I don't have a great view of it because I'm down in turn 1 but I think 3&4 have taken rubber. Additional track prep definitely needs to happen.

All Facts!!  Sorry to disappoint you!  I started going to the races in 1982 and in todays racing they need to bring back the cushion.....don't run it in every chance you get.   The cars will move it up throughout the night.  That is a fact....the racing is better with a cushion.   Port is the Slow Palace.....

Way to use that exclamation point and the over use of periods crybaby. And you didn't disappoint me because again, you have not stated a fact, you have overstated your opinion. It doesn't disappoint me when someone tells me the Earth is flat or the Holocaust never happened. I just simply say, it's round or yes it did happen, you were taught this & you are choosing to deny it, so you're an idiot.

Good for you for attending since 1982. Guess what, it's 2019, things don't work the same. Also, it's not all about what you want. Tracks listen to money at the ticket window. People keep showing up at the gate, they will keep prepping the track as they do, fact. Now keep sucking on your thumb and throwing your temper tantrum on the internet

Sold out crowd and Steve O’Neal got promoter of the year for the third straight time by the Hall of Fame. I mean obviously it’s a shithole that nobody likes.

Yes Steve O'Neal may be a great promotor and I don't disagree with that but he does have the WORST track prep crew in the northeast!!!  Walked across the track a 4:00 and was damn near dry as a bone.

I have a dead car battery that I haven't gotten around to disposing of yet but I'll guarantee it has a higher IQ than Strawser does. In a previous post some time ago, I explained to him the very distinct difference between "facts" and "opinions" but it didn't sink in too well apparently so you're wasting your time. Good post though. You nailed it.

And I was totally wrong. The track held up for the whole racs.

Port has the worst track prep crew in the Northeast? I will take the surface at Port hands down over just about every track in New York state. A lot places in New York don't even have any track prep.

Disclaimer-I watched on Speed Shift.

With that stated I noticed there wasn’t an enormous amount of dust blanketing the track and making it harder to see the cars. Just because a track is slick doesn’t make it a shit surface. Cars were not entering on the bottom and doing a death slide to the top waiting for it to set. Some of you PA fans must be absolutely miserable if you ever watch a race anywhere.

I was a little worried when I saw the track in hot laps and was also thinking that they would have water and rework the top side at some point but surprise, that track produced great racing all night long. The place defies logic but I'll take slick, multi-groove racing with cars inches from the outside rail any day over a heavy cushion conveyor belt. Good racing is much more important than fast lap times. Kudos to Port for another fantastic event!

Congrats to Reutzel also. That was a very impressive run. Being a posse homer I would have rather seen the money stay in PA but I'm really starting to like Aaron, great driver, class act, very good VL interview.

I enjoyed last nights show so much that I may go back for the in-laws.

The only thing that needs to change about port Royal is the announcers.  Its time to stop being nice and just realize that some people shouldn't be on a microphone.  Myself included.  Its business. No time for being nice because "they put in the time" or are "trying their hardest." Its time to be grown ups and do better.

I didn't think they were that bad, and the sound system and microphone transmitters were a much bigger problem than the actual announcing.  I hope that upgrading those aspects are part of the plans they were speaking about, because nothing says big show like microphones that keep cutting in and out and feeding back scratch noises.  I have no doubt that they will work on this though, given their recent track record.

When the All Stars are here, you are, of course, gonna get Blake Anderson who I like.  The main Port announcer (not sure his name) still needs to get a little more comfortable, and stop missing things, like givingwrong car numbers or starting spots during line-ups, but I chalk some of that up to being nervous at such a huge show for the first time.

I've been saying this all year long.  Look, I like Earl, I've had nice conversations with him out at Mansfield, Knoxville and other places. I think he'll get better but his partner is AWFUL.  You can't understand him 90% of the time and he gets stuff wrong all the time.  The errors, screwing up names (like Kepner being pronounced Knepper) and botching the lineups are just simple things that shouldn't happen.   My biggest gripe with Earl is hearing him say "they got out of the car UNDERNEATH their own power", lol.  Stop it Earl, its "Under".  And I agree, the "they are trying" argument is horseshit.  I could try my hardest to be the QB for the Patriots but I'm pretty sure everyone would want me gone because I'd suck.  Like you said, some people shouldn't be on the mic, period.  Keep one, send the other one packing, or just to pit reporting like this past weekend.

I had my reservations about the announcing duo from the time it was first announced without ever hearing them but knowing them through their podcasts. I had hoped they would really suprise me but it's about what I expected. I'm not at Port every week but I do watch the highlights and prefer to watch them with the sound muted. The funny thing is, when I'm at the track I have gotten very adept at tuning them out. I miss a lot of info being given but my nerves are just better that way. Lol.  The Labor Day race announcer who I understand is from Speedshift was very good. While he only announces 410 races a handful of times over the course of a season, for me Dave Hare at Susky is an excellent announcer. He also does a fine job doing the EMMR roundtables. There is one thing we must all remember. When talking about getting rid of someone there has to be someone else in place to take over. Getting a new announcer is likely easier said than done. As far as the original title of this thread, the number of flats on Friday night, I did hear Saturday that after Friday's race something was found in the track in 1 and 2. It is believed it was from a crash in the 4 cylinders on Monday. There were less flat tires on Saturday so it appears it was the culprit.

The drivers and crews like it because they can put in there feature setup in the heat race and then just tweak the car.  That is a fact!  The fans must like dull racing if they go there.....that is not sprint car racing.  That is not an opinion that is a fact.  When you slip and slide around the corners that is asphalt racing not dirt racing......never was never will be.

I will tell you another thing my late brother Morgan "who owned a very good business on muddy run road"  was all about Port Royal and I will gaurantee you this.  He would roll over in his grave if he saw how they were preparing that track today.

I guess when our drivers go somewhere like knoxville where they know how to prepare a dirt track they struggle.  You can say it is because they don't race there often.  That could be part of it but another part of it is they are used to racing on asphalt all night long here at some tracks in PA.   I don't care where they race but it seems like everytime drivers go out to a different track in another state they struggle bad.  They are not used to it being that wet at the beginning of the night.

I'm only responding as I see a way to make a few bucks. I'll challenge that guarantee that Morgan has rolled over in his grave. Put a $100 on it and have him dug up. I've never seen anyone roll over in their grave. I'll take the $100 or pay it to see this.

I hate to agree because they seem like great people, but I do. In the beginning I was ok with giving them a shot since they were new to it and everything but they haven't really improved at all. I get that their huge fans and they are passionate about the sport but that doesn't at all translate to actual talent. They just aren't that good. No other way to say it.

That is a cross I will bear proudly!  Slip and slide is what they have most Saturday nights.....unless it rains on raceday.

Bar none....they have the worst surface in Central PA.

I was talking to someone this morning that went over and they have been going every once in a while....they said same old Port Royal and it wasn't a compliment.

Now he's a martyr for his sacred cause of hating Port Royal...

oh boy...

You crazy
