I've noticed this has taken place for the last 2 seasons. I dont k ow the weather patterns prior to the 2018 season. Is this typical to have 50% of the events rained out for their early west coast swing?
If so why do they keep trying to do it?

It’s the only place they can run in March and some years they are able to get most of the shows in. The last 2 years have been lousy admittedly.

Looks like we will get Hanford in Friday and Perris in on Saturday. Yes we have been wet the last two years but it won’t last.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

I just checked forecasts too. Looks like we're golden for this coming weekend. I need my fix. Curious which is more addicting. Heroin or Outlaws? Glad I will never find out as I stick to my #1 vice for life.

I'm just wondering if there is much benefit from trying to start the Woo schedule so early and missing so many events due to winter weather. Considering the travel and camping costs with no income for the teams and the advertising and prep costs with no income for the tracks, how great is the benefit from starting in March but not actually doing much? Would they be better off starting in April and racing a larger percentage of their events? Could they race Texas and Az before California? I dont have the interest or time to do a climate study over the last 40 years in those areas so I'm going to ask humans on a forum instead of Google. Please forgive me!

Definitely feel like the World Of Oulaws should look into reconfiguring their schedule. This seems to happen every Spring....I don’t have the answer. But it costs the teems a fortune to keep teams out that long in hotels etc. Team members spending their earning with trying to find things to do, IF they don’t have the luxuries of flying home or to home base shops.
Possibilties maybe have the season just start a few weeks behind, don’t race Texas in March and California. Run them beginning summer or just in the fall. It’s the beginning of the season and to put this repetitive financial burden so early in the season on the teams is a total bummer

While Texas is a different story and Winter is usually wetter than the rest of the year on the West Coast, the fact is the last two years have been anomolies.
I just did a quick browse through the history of the WoO schedule
Forthe Spring western swing (Cali and Vegas) in 2015 there were no rain outs. In 2016 there was 1 rain out. In 2017 there were no rain outs.
That means in 30+ scheduled races over three years, there was exactly 1 rain out in the Spring on the West Coast. So, lets not overeact to two problematic Springs. Weather is unpredictable and sucks from time to time and dirt tracks being fickle beasts can sometimes have one 15 minute squall in an otherwise dry week and be ruined for the night. The weather in Califormia the last two years has been extraordinarily wet...wet enough to completely eliminate what was once considered to be the drought to end all droughts. I have no doubt the weather will go the opposite direction in future years.

To add to this, here are the number of rainouts from 2011 through 2018 spanning the Texas, Nevada, California, and Arizona Sprint races. So I'd have to agree on last year and this year being an anomaly.
2011: 1 out of 9 rained out/postponed
2012: 3 out of 8 rained out/postponed
2013: 1 out of 13 rained out/postponed
2014: 1 out of 15 rained out/postponed
2015: 1 out of 16 rained out/postponed
2016: 3 out of 19 rained out/postponed
2017: 2 out of 16 rained out/postponed
2018: 7 out of 13 rained out/postponed
Total 2011-2018: 19 out of 109 rained out/postponed = 17%
(Take out 2018 and you get 12 out of 96 rained out/postponed = 12%. Not too shabby).

I think they are a couple of races ahead of last year’s pace or will be assuming this weekend gets both shows in. I’m sure they’re excited to get out of Cali and farther east soon.

Is it 12 to 7 for the outlaws now? When I saw their tweet y first thit was Logan got shafted 2g but then saw they adjusted the prize money to reflect a one day show. Nice of them. Must be a woo hoo rool. Or was it a track offering?

It’s a long standing WoO policy that a prelim show turns into a one day show purse if the 2nd night gets rained out.

Looks like rain is wiping out alot of Ascoc shows as well. Last night I looked on Google and learned it was 8 hrs from where the Ascoc were supposed to be today to where the WoO are. From that I didnt think any would travel that far to join the WoO but I count 5 Ascoc cars in Jackdonville tonight. Maybe I missed some.
Flip that, was it only 1 WoO in knoxville last weekend???
Is the WoO show up money that good or is it just because these guys likes to race, or something else?

The WoO purse is almost double the All Stars purse.

The All-stars didn’t have a race scheduled today (4/28). They were scheduled at Attica Friday and Wayne county Saturday but both were washed out..
id say the reason only 1 WoO person showed up last week was because the teams wanted a weekend off to enjoy the holidays

Official count as of Monday April 29th after another rough weekend. Going with complete A main as the official measure for a winner.
