Being from Ohio, the fact that there are 3 repeat tracks in PA's speedweek doesn't appeal to me. My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon in either Western or Central Pa (thanks to sprint cars) and look forward to being there but wouldn't to be revisiting the same tracks twice in one week. We have had one repeat track last year (Atomic) thanks to the owners of  Millstream screwing Shane Helm's show up. Wayne County is the only track hosting duplicate shows this year. Both Atomic and Wayne County were hosting the finale as well so at least it makes some sense.

A dream Honeymoon - at the sprint car races!

Go to Central PA - and do what ya gotta do to keep that girl! Smile

It's not a big deal really. People in general just love to bitch around here.

Lincoln and Port provide some of the best racing anywhere, the car counts are always big for their races as well. The Grove will always have two races for whatever reason, but the other two are very worthy of the second show. It definitely wouldn't be a bad week, and let me just put a guarantee right here for you that a week in Central PA for Speedweek would blow away anything you are going to find in Western PA in terms of enjoyment that is Sprint Car related.

Just received my Lincoln Speedway season seat renewal in the mail today.....Signed by 2019 Promotors Don Leiby & Alan Kreitzer. Just sayin'.

I recieved my renewal for seats mid December.

It is typed as Alan Kreitzer & Don Leiby however the rumors persist of a sale?

Couldn’t agree more. Port and Lincoln both deserve two dates, if for no other reason, in case one gets rained out, they have a second date. And it’s no secret, getting both dates in without rain is a 50/50 bet at best.

As far as BAPS, I still believe it stems from them scheduling that Thursday night race at the last minute, prior to SpeedWeek starting.

As far as Bedford, how big was the crowd for their Sunday All Star Race? Serious question.

As far as Big Diamond, they tried that before......

As far as Trailway, how many people does that hold?  If you think Path was a nightmare getting in, getting out, and finding a seat.....

Hagerstown has been part of SpeedWeek from the beginning and always gets good car counts, good seating, etc, and can handle a SpeedWeek show and I always support it.

To those wanting to do something else that week, there is NOWHERE else to be during PA SpeedWeek. It will be your loss.

IMO

Well at least the Grove at pays 10G to win their 2nd race, something Port and Lincoln don't want to do despite good car counts and gigantic crowds. I also suggest you go to Lernerville some time. They might not have the strongest local teams compared to central PA but it is by far the best 410 track in PA, racing wise.

Not sure who those other guys are but your info about Macedo is wrong. It was announced a long time ago that he is driving for Kyle Larson this year.

Agreed on everything. Especially Lernerville. There isn't a track in Central PA that compares. BAPS is probably the closest but not quite as good. Lernerville is the ideal sprint car track.

I believe the Grove pays $5k for the first show, and $10k for the second. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think both Port and Lincoln paid $7 or $8k for each of their shows last season. I think most Sprint car fans in PA have been to Lernerville, and while the racing is great would I say it is significantly better than Lincoln or BAPS? Not in my opinion.

That said my comment about Western PA was not a dig at Western PA. I was simply stating, if someone is thinking of going to Western PA instead of Central PA during PA Speedweek they have made a bad decision. Western PA has some great, shows, but the week of PA Speedweek there is no contest between the two.

I've been told it was because of safety. I can believe that because Path Valley is one of the most unsafe tracks I've ever been to. If that was the reason, I'm all for it. Good to see a new attitude after losing Greg and Jason. As far as BAPS, why they aren't on the schedule at this point is beyond me. Maybe there's still bad blood because of them scheduling the Thursday before Speedweek a couple of years ago? Either way, the speedweek schedule sucks. Too many half miles and too repetitive. We see enough races every year at Williams Grove, Lincoln and Port and now they account for 6 speedweek shows and you can bet your ass that none of them will give up a date in the future to accommodate a new track. Greed will win that battle every time.

Not trying to start an argument, I don't have any real knowledge on this subject. But why is Path considered unsafe?

Its one of my favorite tracks, but I'm also 100% in favor of protecting the drivers....

That said, I did see a microsprint driver get badly hurt there a few years ago, had to delay racing maybe 2 hrs. (?) for helicopter to get him. I have no idea if it was the track's fault or just one of those shitty things

BY the way, is there any ino on the driver's status now? Somebody said they heard he was "gone"....

I'll be damned if that ole Lincoln Speedway was sold.  Just like I said.

Hefner, Gobrecht & Parrish along with Alan Kreitzer who will advise, but cutting back on work load.Good Luck Guys!!

Guy Griffin. Haven't heard anything about him in awhile. Hope he's still around and rec9vering. I was there that night as well. I'm not going to go into details but the fact that he survived those injuries at all had to be a combination of 1 in 1,000,000 luck and being one tough hombre. That said, take a real close look at Path Valley's catch fence. If a sprinter got into it carrying any speed, it's going to be in someone's lap due to how close the bleachers are to the track. The fence in turns 3&4 isn't nearly high enough and there's spectators there so if a car got up over there it would be ugly. The same can be said for the pit bleachers in turns 3 and 4 but I'm hearing they put a newer, much better fence up in that area so that's good. They have a pit opening (that I believe is constructed of concrete) that's in a terrible location and the back stretch has nothing to keep a car from flipping out into the lot plus they always have unused jersey barriers sitting right there. I probably missed a few things but that covers a lot of them. I realize that it's a rural, low buck track and although it is on of my top 3 favorites, the safety issues there need to be addressed if they want to race full sized sprint cars or really anything for that matter. Any racecar is capable of doing crazy things.

This is now the most powerful partnership in Central PA. I think we're going to see some very exciting things in the future. Gotta wonder where Heffner's car will be on Saturday nights now? At any rate, I'm damned excited to see what the future holds.

True enough. Lincoln and Port pay 5G for their mid-week show and 7G for the other, no reason it shouldn't be 10G for a Saturday night IMO. These are some of the biggest crowds of the year.

Port's shedule and Facebook page say $7000 for wth midweek show and a minimum of $7000 on Sat.

Path Valley installed a new catch fence around turns 1 and 2.
