I wouldn't put him in the Larson/CBell/BC tier of drivers. I'd put him on equal footing to DP, Shane, Logan, Sheldon. Not quite at the level of Sweet, Donny, Gravel to use current outlaw drivers as a reference point.

When he won the Sharon Nationals and did backflips down the front that was one of the coolest damn things I ever saw.

I'm of the opinion that he used up his chances and burned too many bridges. I'm sure somebody will give him a shot and I hope the best for all involved but I'll never bring myself to cheer for him.

Makes sense and thanks for the reference points which help me envision what you're saying.  I forgot CBell in my "rare talents" comparo.  You mention DP, Shane, Logan, Sheldon and all those guys are also know as hardworking drivers who work their tails off and just because they're older DP and Shane worked hard to get where they are.  Did Tyler have that "drive" and hardwork too or was he more of a "I have talent and it'll take me places" attitude.  Again I genuinely don't know/remember.  Thanks Dan!

Too many talents to be deserve a chance long before he should get another.

This poor lil rich kid had many many chances, burned so many bridges & lost everyones trust by being a fool. His actions at the Grove the night he was on a meth rage in the pits was a total embarrasment not only to himself, but to owners of the #35 although they were good enough to stand by him that evening until he was ushered out.

Please no more chances, your ship has sailed!!!

Which is why you should start your own team(s) and hire all these "talents" to drive, since you are the ultimate judge and jury.

Tyler at his best was unbelievable, I would rate him at the top of his game as better than Sweet or Gravel right now.  That said, not a fan.  To take that much talent and the unlimited opportunities he has had and just set it on fire, that is just apalling to me.

You certainly have a good point, but that decision belongs to car owners, not us

Also, how do you know he was on a "meth rage" at the Grove? i was there, thought he got a bum deal, I would have been pissed off too. He drove slightly into the infield to avoid a wreck, & got penalized for it... & agreed, he acted kind of crazy about it

Once again, you could be right about the meth, but we don't know. Here in the good ole USA, its still "innocent until proven guilty". Obviously HH is not a court of law, but i don't think people should make unproven accusations...

In 1997, Walker won one of the best races I have ever seen in over 50 years at Pevely. I wish him well.

I wish him well if he does get a ride. He would inject some attention into the sport at the least.

Based on this board I know I’m going to get crucified for saying this but I’m sure that if everything that all of us do on a daily basis was scrutinized and dissected on forums most of is would look like fools too - I know that I definitely would. He obviously made alot of dumb mistakes but if he admits to them as he has and wants to move forward with his life then he deserves that chance. I hope he does well with racing and most of all I hope that he has finally moved past his demons and can find some happiness in his life whether that involves racing sprint cars or not.

I just scrutinized and dissected my daily life.  It looks nothing like this at all:

"On Jan. 30, 2013, Former NASCAR driver Tyler Walker led police from three states on a high-speed chase before being stopped by oncoming traffic as he tried to exit the highway by going the wrong way on an entrance ramp. After his arrest, police found a "clear pipe with a bulb end, white crystal substance on the bulb end," "three plastic containers with hashish n them," "multiple plastic containers of marijuana," and an open bottle of vodka. Walker was charged with evading, possession of amphetamines, marijuana and narcotic equipment, driving under the influence of drugs, open container/drinking in a public place and a liquor license violation. He has since plead not guilty to all charges. This video was taken from footage supplied by the Utah Highway Patrol. It shows just about 10 minutes, edited down from over an hour and a half of video."

Please, everyone, stop pretending we've all got similar demons.  Just quit being stupid.

That said, if someone gives him the second chance:

1.  He should first recognize he doesn't deserve it

2.  If he is truly clean and sober, I hope he makes the most of it.

3.  I would love to look back 10 years from now and say I was wrong when I thought he could never straighten himself out.

I'll never forget seeing him the first time:  "who the hell is hanging it out in that green 24 car?"

I'm of the opinion that I don't think he deserves another chance.  I'm all for second chances but he is beyond a second chance.  I also wouldn't say he was a rare talent either, to me a rare talent is someone who can WIN in different kinds of race cars, or someone that dominates a series for an extended period of time.  This is just my opinion and it might not be yours but that's ok.  With that being said, I do not wish him any ill will nor do I wish what he's going through or gone through on my worst enemy.  It is unfortunate it happened to him or anyone else for that matter.  In my opinion he has much bigger things in his life to worry about than a sprint car ride.

With that being said, does anyone know what he's up to?  Has he cleaned himself up?  I'm assuming he's staying out of trouble since there's no news on him.  But does anyone know for sure?

Agree his time and chances are past. So much young talent that deserve rides way before him.

But if a driver brings money he goes to the head of the line.

I'm sure this will be a thoughtful, insightful, level headed thread.

Tyler Walker looking to comeback fulltime in 2019. Looking is key word, whether this comes to fruition or not we shall see. Begin firestorm in 3,2,1...

Any one that beats addiction deserves a 2nd chance.  Sometimes it is 3rd or 4 th or more.  Like they say, every track needs  a bad guy and a good guy.  Some will make Tyler to be a bad guy and boo.  I hope not.  All I can do is wish him luck.

Tyler had a very healthy Fan Base.  Little kids loved him and Grand Parents felt the same way.  If you stood back and watched him interact with these two groups in the pits you would have thought he was a Saint with a personality.  The real Tyler is a helluva guy, but yes, he has his demons and they show more than most of the ones we have.  As far as driving a sprint car, he was special, period end of story.  I saw him race many, many times and it was rare when he didn't put on a show, on the edge but always going forward, loved to watch him race......

PS  As I have said in these pages before he still has the single greatest pass I ever saw at the Big E.  He split 2 cars, under the first and around the top on the second in turns three and four, breathtaking doesn't do it justice.....

Young talent. young talent , young talent! It isn't young talent that has been dominant the past few years.....Schatz, Dale Blaney, Tim Shaffer, Pittman, Dewease and the list goes on. Not saying there aren't some good young drivers out there, but it seems only the ones with money are getting the rides. Lasoski, Dollansky, Jac, Joey, McMahan and Tim Kaeding to name some can all wheel with the young guys, no problem. They simply lack the piles of money it takes to secure a strong ride.

Tyler was always great to me and my son when we spoke with him in the pits after the races.  I wish him all the best in whatever he chooses to do and hope to see him race again.

If he came back and even if your three favorite drivers were on the track, you'd have one eye on Tyler. It was like that before, and it would be again.

I think these twitter accounts were fake. I hope to see him at the track again but I really have my doubts.

Your spot on about Sweet & Gravel - Tyler was - WAS, at his peak, better than both.

I have been around the sport for over 50 years now and I have seen only one persone haul it into T1 at Eldora in the same manner as Doug Wolfgang, and that is TW. And for all you experts, hauling into 1 @ the big E - is not somthing the vast amount of humans can do and to do it like Tyler did puts him in elete sprint car driver territory.

Rich kid - not his fault

FK UP - Hell yes

He was great with fans and especially kids, he was young and the kids liked him - just what the sport needs.  He had a gift as a wheel man and if he did not screw it all up, he had the potential to be on the top in the sprint car world.

Remember, he had Ricky Warner, had he kept his shit together, and they had stuck together, who knows how his racing careear would have turned out, he certianlly had the tools at one time. We would be looking at a different landscape if things had gone another direction with him

That is how I see it.

I hate to see what he has done with his life, frankly, he is lucky to be alive.

Condming someone on a place like this is just sad, to many feel they have a "right to voice my opinion"  on any subject and rag on someione they do not even know.  If you "can't ever" pull for the guy again - for what ever reason you have, so what? Who gives a rats, you do not need to tell the world, the world don't care.

Tyler, If you read this BS, good luck my freind, I for one will always be pullin for you on and off the track.
