for what it's worth, Carson is the grandson of Tom Tarlton, Tarlton & sons plastering, drywall, steel stud framing. probably one of the larger companies of its kind in the state. grandpa was a pretty good shoe back in the day as was his uncle Tommy. not sure however if a major portion of funding comes from there. i do know the Tarltons are pretty good people & very much a part of Carson's racing endeavors

I do believe that Carson is the grandson of RobbyTarlton who is Tom's brother and Tommy is his 2nd  cousin i am thinking'...... Robby was a great Micro racer in his day;;;;; And i agree they are great people...

Some drivers have sponsors that follow with them. Some have motors but it sounds like Kevin is looking for someone who will pay expenses in exchange for a chance to drive top equiptment. The days of talent, courage, and a helmet bag are not very common these days. ChiliBowl has some owners willing to give a driver a chance to show their skills and supply car crew and you pay plus also for any damage. If he wants a top driver there is probably one of the best at one time that has same last name and He probably is funded He also has an Uncle that can still get it done. Those guys are amazing. I think Kevin had the talent of Bell and Larson  just unfortunate what happened but I will give him credit He is still doing what he loves in a different capacity. Indy cars are not always driven by best drivers just largest pocketbooks or foreign drivers representing their country. Nascar also likes the different ethnic or  female driver as it draws fans. A few top drivers were funded  to get a chance and for some it paid off.

"I think Kevin had the talent of Bell and Larson".... at the Chili Bowl, yes

But not in sprint cars, winged or "traditional"

But I'm still a fan of his....

I think one of his last races at Knoxville he won the Cappy and beat about 80 cars, could be wrong though.  Youngest ever W of O winner at 16 and if you asked around he was very highly thought of as a racer among his peers....

It was 2013 and he beat 80 cars exactly, just looked it up.  Bulldog Strong.....

I had heard somewhere that Madsen got the Muddy 2 ride because he brought motors to the team. Not sure if it’s accurate but he’s one of the top 10 or so in the sport so if he’s doing it a lot of others are as well.

I disagree with the Madman being top 10, maybe top 25. He is a more than a frequent crasher due to his over agressive driving style. Just like most of the Aussies they tend to drive over their heads because that is how they all drive over there.

I agree with your thoughts on Kerry. From what I see when watching him, he has a tough time moving around on the track. He's good like everybody is on a one lane track, especially when it's the cushion, but make it a multiple groove, or even no one groove at all and he doesn't seem to be able to search out the consistant line that fits him. I also don't think he understands how to go slow to go fast....which makes him somewhat eratic or appears that he's too aggressive. A driver can't always just flat foot it. Schatz mentions that a lot when he's on the money. Wolfgang was a master at that. In looking at the best of the winged era drivers another thing stands out. Those drivers who can run the bottom to middle the most efficiently are winng the most races. A lot of fans said Lasoski was only good on the bottom, that he couldn't run the top. Well there are some great WoO videos out there that show Danny up on "the hill" as he called setting some blistering paces.  I think the Muddy Team went backwards when they left Lasoski behind and went with Madsen. And there is more to the story than just Madsen bring whatever to the team. But that was the team's business and there's no reason for them to address or clear any speculations up.

His first ride in a sprint was in the Tarlton 21x and he ran outlaw karts in cali before that (per openred podcast). Told him going into second year if he didn't show any signs of not tearing cars up early that season he was done. Rest is history.

His first ride in Ohio was a team car to Craig Mintz 2 years ago in the 09x. Won his first ever start at Fremont Speedway. Shortly thereafter the Gaerte 3G ride came along and he split time in each of those. Then he went solely to the 3G last year for the majority of the year and I think everyone their recognized that he had the talent to compete and potentially win the All Stars. I think the ASCoC bumping up their points fund significantly also helped bring some teams back into the fold too.

If Madsen and the Swindells could get thru a night before the popcorn ran out it would have already been tried.

Don’t really know how you could call multiple WoO wins and a Nationals podium taking a step backwards. I must be missing somethkng

Indeed, the Muddy 2 was the fastest non-Outlaw by a large margin last year and this year he’s a consistent threat for top 5 wherever they go.
