Asked a well known engine builder " WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE ENGINE ???" Reply Motor Dont Know What Name Is On the Valve Cover" . Not Only Have Chevy Based Motors Won Sprint Races But of Course Fords & Mopars well . What most people forget is that building a Mopar or Ford Sprint Motor Costs probably 30 - 50 $$$$$$$$ percent more than a Chevy based Bullet $$$$$$$.

Why does the 17 car never get brought into this discussion? He is sponsored by Ford also.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Because the 17 car isn't Donnie, but I bet if he was in that car and won one race you would here about it.

My guess would be that the 17 is sponsored by a Ford dealership rather than Ford Motor Company. Tony shows his appreciation to his Cup backers by giving them room on his WoO cars, for a price I’m sure. Chevy wasn’t going to continue sponsoring a team owned by a Ford NASCAR owner. Just my opinion and guesses so don’t take it to the bank.

And what exactly makes all these engines, “Chevy” engines? Honest question.
|
Just the bore spacing I would imagine And maybe the cylinder head bolt patter and that’s a maybe. Other than that not a single part on the motor is a GM part. Most everything else has evolved from the various builders. Taller blocks, roller cam bearings, relocated camshaft geometry,12 degree heads etc etc. Nothing is GM on them anymore.

Will run Fords in 2018. Ford has been slow in getting new head designed and built. It is probably done by now. We will see.

Didn't Ford sponsor John forces funny car at one time? Wasn't a ford in front of the motorplate either. Sort of a similar situation where they come to sponsor what is already a front running car

To go along with the reasoning stated above, now that Sage Fruit is sponsoring Schatz in 2018, does that mean he will have to change his nickname from "Donut Donny" to something fruity?

So how come when the Knoxville Nationals was sponsored by the Ford dealers of Iowa, they didn't make all the teams run Ford motors?
I don't even want to think about what happens when somoene gets a sponsorship from Pampers.

Yes, being a huge NHRA fan, I know that Ford sponsored John Force's Funny Cars for several years, maybe as many as ten years and with Force's mouth, they got their money's worth for damned sure. That's no problem really as all the funny cars use bodies of various car makers, (Mustang, Camaro, Mopar uses Charger R/T, Toyota something, etc), and those car makers will have their car's name prominently displayed. But Ford took the low line again as with Schatz's fake Ford and the Iowa Ford Dealer's deal in that they machined valve covers for Force that said Boss Ford, as in "this is a Ford motor, fans", NOT!. Oh and I forgot about the fake Jason Blonde Ford sprint car deal at Bristol. It just stinks that the largest family owned company in the world goes to those lengths to fool the public. Not sure but someone on here said Ford was the largest family owned company in thej world, not 100% sure on that.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.

its on the NYSE so that makes it a publicly owned company.

What is going on ? Josh started the season with a bow tie and they decided it just wasn't getting it done. What did they do ? Switch to ford power and he liked the response of the ford. But wait, what does that motor cost ? I've heard 57,000 for a motor that has to get freshened up every, with best probably 10 races, 12 max. So if this new motor goes in and costs let's say 60K. Do you really think WRG wants that ? Everybody is complaining about motor costs. Let's see 300K for 5 new motors. Freshened every 8 races, you mite as well add another 1/2 million to the sponsorship budget.

I Run a Ford Roush Yates 410 guaranteed same turnover as my chev and was in a similar price bracket to my chev.

Your running a roush/Yates 410 in a sprint car ? If there building a sprint car motor , a good motor, I think more teams would be running them.

Arguing about whether purpose-built race engines are Fords or Chevys is kind of like arguing about what make late model bodies are. They simply aren't any manufacturer, just a bunch of stickers to make them sort of look like something a manufacturer sells.
The 360/410 engines used don't have any "stock-resembling" parts in them. The exhaust port configuration used on sprint cars is about the only thing that might identify it as a Chevy but Chevy hasn't used that configuration since about 2003. Maybe we should just call them "Dart-C" or "Dart-F" motors.
And in the fuel classes in drag racing, those don't resemble anything the manufacturers ever put out, except something loosely based on the 426 hemi. Once Keith Black and others got involved, that motor's evolution has gone far away from the manufacturer.

Yes mate,
ROUSH YATES had an engine program, first it was with the 360's and they won multiple ASCS championships in the hands of Jason Johnson. Roush Yates tinkered around with the 410 trying different heads and when they finally got a good reliable one which JJ Drove at the 2013 Knoxville Nationals and led the World Challenge comfortable until a rear shock broke on the car Roush Yates pulled the pin on all there dirt track programs to pursue sports car racing including the late model program which they were successful with ford power as well. 2 high profile Woo teams were in talks with RY at the time but that then fell thrU.
This new engine that TSR want to run is different again that's what the hold up is.
