Yep, not having to walk to the infield for pizza will definately make the track better. The grove is the grove, been that way for many years. One thing I have learned about the place is not to have high expectations when you show up there.

Bringing back the hamburger and cheesesteak stand in the infield would also make the racing much better. Smile

So if people on here think the track was so bad, what do you think needs to be done? If you not part of the solution, then your part of the problem.

Shorten the straights and make it wider and higher banked.

The show of the weekend was Logan Schuchart last night.  What a drive.

Still stand by my opinion,  the track sucked all three nights.

Thursday, after Hodnett and Stewart finished taking each other out....no passing.  Second feature, Hodnett won from the front row.

Friday, top four fInished where they started.  5th place car started 6, 6th place car started 5th.

Saturday, top three finished where they started.  Schuchart was the show, 20th to 4th.  Pittman started 4th, finished 5th.  Cars after the Stewart flip were coasting through the turns on the bottom.

Tell me where the great racing was?

Where did I say anything about how good the racing was? All I said was that on Friday and Saturday, the weather had their nuts in a vise because it did.

Walked by Fred Putney Saturday around 5-6pm...said what do you think man? He just looked at me and said, "I'm glad I don;t have to prepare a track to race on with this weather". Beautiful day, but horrible for a race track. Sun, Wind and brisk air...along with a little rain the night before...they had their hands full. When a guy with as much experience and such as Fred doesn;t envy you...I think they did pretty well all things considering all weekend

nobody likes hug the bottom racing and that is what was served up...paid for 2 nights and saw a total of about 15 laps of Amain action until it went to shit in the turns.

There is no excuses for dust in the 1st heat race with no TT. They had equipment and they had time. Make some semblance of a racing surface.

Everyone will point to Logan but he pulled off a minor miricale I would like to see how many spots were gained off restarts too. I know if picked off 2-3 spots multiple times. Then you still ended up like 7 of the top 10 finishers started in the top 10.

both nights were shit compared to any regular night at Lincoln or Port...we attend often enough to know the difference.

for those of you who are experts via watching it on ther internet...we know why you didn't buy a ticket and attend, stop acting like you got your money's worth watching a computer screen of hug the bottom action.

all we need is a second 410 track option for Friday and things will improve.

I used to support the WoO shows not just in attendance but with recommendations (and travel). Even if the feature was a yawner the qualifying was cut throat. Now that 410 cars have turned into IROC templates and passing is the exception rather than the rule, it’s a tough sell (to me). Not just WoO shows but weekly too. I have not missed many Natty’s O’s since 76, but I chose to skip Friday/Saturday: suspecting other options would be more entertaining than the few laps of excitement I saw Thursday. Open up the rules, allow for innovation and lets see some passing.

To those who went and were entertained, I am happy for you.

I wish Susky would go to 410 sprints on Friday but  hagerstown tried it decades ago and it didn't work.  I went to Lindas Speedway on Friday and after a few rain delays they got the show in. Midget car count was low, but the race ended up with a photo finish, and the micros put on a good show also. I'm about ready to say to heck with the grove like I did for many seasons in a row, I'm not sure why I ever went back.  I guess just to hang out with friends. Like I posted before, don't go to the grove with high expectations of seeing a good race, that way you might not be so disappointed.

I have been coming for years now and each year things go downhill as other tracks in the area improve consistently. No longer the premier track in Pa. You can only stand on past reputation for so long. I believe Port and Susky are moving to the forefront of our Pa tracks. I remember when the outlaws were in town it was hard to find a seat. Noe easy peasy.

A few things can help and oyr gang travel 2+ hours each week each way just to see 410s.

More food options. Worst track food of all the tracks. We now stop along the way and i see others that do as well. Chicken and fries are ok but way overpriced.

Go back to 730 start times. I see no difference in crowd or driver attendence. Just getting the same drivers as before. Shows contain alot of BS throughout the night and some extra divisions have way too many cautions this year.

Get rid of tractor trailers in the infield. You pay good money for the races and want to see the whole track not just a portion. Other tracks in the area accomodate the fans in this area.

Stop the BS. Dont need all pre feature interviews. Driver pictures or who cares about how long a few folks can hold a tool box. Youj have kids there that cannot last all night while you piss time away.

Think more fan related. Drivers will not have a place to run without fans.

The racing this year was good most of thie time at all tracks but all had front row wins and little passing at their shows.  Turn the track over once in awhile instead of just water and packing. All other tracks do.

You make some good points.

Everybody likes to play 'track promoter' because it is easy to do when not faced with the real world challenges that force you to make choices.  Even so, there is plenty of room for 'the grove' to up their game, and I'll take my turn at playing.

Fans first!!!  Last!! and all about the fans!!!  Good affordable food!! At all three locales.  Clean facilities!!! (Nobody has even mentioned the plumbing apocalypse in the infield!)  Get rid of the G*D D*MN tractor trailers/souvy wagons in the infield!!!  Every time the Outlaws show up they take over more of the infield with their bandwagons.  We wanna see the RACES!!  You cannot see turn 3 or the scoreboard from the east end of the infield anymore!

Turn off the stupid classic/hard rock crap the the Outlaws blast during every break in the action.  Hell the sound system is so bad it just sounds like high pitched thumping static!

How hard would it be to get a little organization in the parking areas?  Nothing radical, just having someone there to prevent the late arrivals from parking in the egress lanes.

Time to groom Bruce Ellis's replacement, actually past time.  Bruce would be a nice 'color' commentator but somebody else needs to handle the minute to minute details.  And invest in a roving pit reporter.

The Grove is a great track with tremendous history and traditions.  But the strongest traditions are the ones that get revised and renewed constantly to keep them alive!!

I thought the 3 way battle with Schatz, McFadden. Gravel was excellent. OK, then Gravel pulled away... oh well, sometimes that happens

Food at the Grove is definitely worse than Lincoln or Port

Moving haulers out of infield would be good...

"Stop the BS"? Not a fan of "BS" myself, but I think they need to do something while teams work on cars

Unlike you, I've only been going to the Grove 7 years, a few times a year, but not ready to give up on it

I wonder if you'd feel differently if Posse had won?

Would have liked to see a Pa driver win but would not feel any different. The definition of Posse is confusing at best. Pa driver Pa car who knows?. I like alot of drivers not just Pa. I just like good hard passing cars racing. I was actually cheering for Schatz as not a Gravel fan at all. I havent given up on Williamsgrove just eish they would take a look at some of the suggestions and make a few honest changes. I think Port and Susky are heading in the right direction for betterment and will surpass the grove in attendence in the near future.

We're in agreement!

I've been to Susky once, for USAC Midgets, & it was best race of the year for me (out of 13, Indiana, Ohio, Pa, N.Y.)

Three nights in a row on your biggest weekend......and you have a worse racing surface every night.  Something should be fixed or attendance will drop like the NFL.   I have been going for over 30 years and these last three nights were as bad as I had ever seen it.  Looked like a NAPCAR race.

That's really the trouble.  All the best track preparers are on the internet.

it is amazing that any person connected with dirt track prep could wake up any given day and not know that evaluating water / wind / sunshine is always their job on race day. add an alarm clock and they might get the job done?

I watched footage of a day race at Port Royal where the racing TRUMPED all the conbditions served up for all outlaw races this year at the Grove / Lincoln.

and yes...you heard that on the internet...and the Port surface is prepped by a team who DOES care about the fans who post on the internet.

Williams Grove should rent Port Royal Speedway to run their national open.
