Well, bummer. Tallest gear we can get on IRacing is a 4:86.

At a 4:86, it tops out at 152 mph or so at Daytona, 8600 rpm's. About 2.5 gallons per lap of methanol burnt. 30 gallon tank, i ran out of fuel just before completeing the 10th lap. Best time was a 59.196. I wonder how much draft would play in to this. Might have to get a couple friends together for a test session, lol.

Winged 410. Wing all the way down, and forward. 1.500" bars on all 4 corers, -4.0 turns on each corner. Tie down shcoks on all 4 corners. Can only go as low as 8" of stagger also. Softer bars made the car move a lot more on the straights, and it was hard to control any corrections. Dragging the left rear frame rail in the corners.

In short, there is 10 minutes of my time I will never get back, lol.

Hanagan holds the track record at Talledega with a 10.998...lol.

The highway down the street? 180mph stock with wings flat. Special body and wings you would think close to 200 but would be neat to find out. Maybe Humpy Wheeler will come out of retirement to help the Frances out.

Check out the speeds at Belleville Highbanks with a 410, I witnessed a race there I believe was 2005 and first time they went by I couldnt believe the speeds. I think McMahan has the record their at 174mph.   Ive been to Eldora and I think Belleview is much faster, track is huge and round and banked.  Big league speeds!

I saw a listing at 128 mph.  Bellview is a circle track, no straights.  You can not go as fast in a circle as you can with straights.

I bet this is one of the very few tracks a non wing USAC car would kick the crap out of a WOO car  wink

at these speeds, the tires would likely be the biggest issuie.  I saw winged sprint cars at kern, they had to lift down the straightaway due to tires and were full throttle through the corners.

Love this topic, strange question.  First a quick reminder, Talledega is asphalt.  Tires would be a huge factor.  I'd like to see Damion Gardner's Bonneville car properly shoed by our friends at Hoosier Racing Tire.  Long straights and massive banking would make a wingless car faster.  A few small fins and flaps are needed for stability.  If you think for a second this car wouldn't top any stock car track record, yer nuts.  It's half the weight and more power.  Somebody call Paul Allen and tell him we have a new verture for him, it will take his check book to try it.  After that the biggest challenge is going to find someone to strap in and drive.  250mph is possible.

Why? Noise in the city? Run down too far? Real estate buy out? Is it still there and closed or gone?

Don't give him a hard time for asking questions!

His questions start good discussions, especially compared to some of this silly season BS

RodinCanada, feel free to ask anything you want...

We could just tell everyone to look it up on Google and there would be no reason at all to have a message board. Life would sure be less interesting if we let that happen. Better that we share what we have- the common bond of an interest in sprint cars than razz someone about something they may not posses- local acces to Google.

Back around the late 90's I heard about this site. I typed in the website and found Hoseheads, didn't use google to find it. Rod in Canada causes no problems on here asking questions, he is not trying to antagonize people or bash on people it just seems he is curious. Were you always so brilliant that you never asked about things you didn't know or were unsure of? Would it kill you to post something positive  for a change?

Stupid people irratate me also, but curious people don't. One of my best buds told me years ago that being around stupid people makes you live longer. LOL. At this rate I should live to be a couple of hundred years old.

He could be a near genius, but new to sprint cars. No need to insult him

& he might get facts from Google, but not back & forth conversation

You've been in plenty of controversies here. The guy is just asking innocent questions. Lighten the hell up....

OK, to be a little scientific on this question...Talladega is 2.66 miles long. The backstretch is it's longest chute at 4,000 feet long with the highest banking measuring at 33 degrees.  An average 410 winged Sprint Car  with driver is under WoO rules is 1400 pounds.  The average horsepower of the engine 880.  With an average barometric pressure of 29.92 and a temperature of 83 degrees with sunshine...the estimated speed of a sprint car (geared for maximum output) would be in the range of 177 miles per hour for a top speed because I have no idea WTF I'm talking about Smile

Just curious.

Fast enough to get someone seriously inuured or killed. Even the specially built Sprint Car which they used in the past for asphalt track could not hadle the speeds that you woudl have at Talladega. Track is too marrow, and wheel base too short and center of balance too high to handle the speeds that would be reached.
