we start are kids out riding bicycles at the earliest age we can. I took mine to the local park that had a small dirt moto course race every saturday. parents were coming in from 2 and 3 hrs away. then it goes to the small 80cc bikes on a larger track, Ours was used and 3k, had a blast, got to meet some good families. now we move on to the 125's. here you can go to the local bike shop and buy all kind of goodies for your dirt enjoyment. air cleaners, carbs, pipes, they make a difference. my kid working could go to the local bike candy store and buy those items for his bike and just keep on riding. he could go ride every day if he choose to. sure not on a track but he was still gaining exp. any how. no trailers, as many show up with the bike in the back of there trucks. you can beat the snout out of those things and they run forever. so why is there so many doing it ? go back to my first line. my kid had a tremdous amount of fun. if together we spent 20K over the YEARS he raced i would be surprised. is there a comparision, NO, put i believe the reasonnings are simple.

A pickup truck with 2 dirt bikes in the back is a pretty common sight here in PA.   I've noticed a lot more in the past 2 years.      From a participation perspective,  dirt bikes are quite popular here now.

Bikes are popular and the top motocross racers are tough as they come. Not many over 30 as it is a dangerous sport.A few Nascar and Sprint car drivers were good bike racers.UFC has to be at the top but Moto cross is right there. The real wild ones do the X games.I love all forms of racing but WOO and Nascar are pretty safe compared to motocross. No protection except safety gear and they fill the areas the same as Monster trucks do.
