10,000$ to win is for a standard weekend show. They changed the weekday show purse a few years ago to 6000$ to win. As far as I know tha has not changed.
|
Gibson always comments on this, but i think there are more standard purse midweek shows than reduced purse midweek shows. Lincoln, Attica, Ohsweken, Lernerville (obviously) all pay the standard (Or more) purse.
Youll see the reduced purse deals on the west coast this week, but I think there's only 2 shows next week that will feature that purse.

Has been a long time for the Chili Bowl. Not sure when they stopped but I remember one way back -1998 I think where a guy won something like $8000 . They interviewed the guy and he put up like a $1000 for tenth place in the feature or something like that. This also was a race where the race winner won less than the raffle winner.

My dad sent me and my wife to Friday & Saturday of the Chilibowl for a christmas present 2 years in a row back in the late late 90's-early 2000s... I pretty clearly remember one year that they announced the thurs night winner took home 6 grand and change when they were selling the fri tickets... the fri night winner pocketed somewhere around $8500-$8900.. Sat night before they did the drawing I remember the announcer saying somebody was about to win just shy of $11,000.. Had they pulled my ticket I already knew which trailer I was headed to to buy a used Stealth Gearte that had a for sale sign on it... Of course I didn't win it, but I did tell my wife that it was probably too big and would probably get shut down once some govt agency figured out that 5 figure sums were moving around and they weren't getting their greedy paws all over it... came back the next year and there was no 50-50 drawing... and hasn't been any of the other 6 times I've gone since.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

I don't see any reason that they can't bring back the 50/50. Throughout the year there are at least 50 area car shows and smaller town celebrations and most have a 50/50 drawing. The drawings add excitement to the events and all are for a good cause. I would like to read a response from a Chili Bowl official, expaining why they don't bring it back.

MSPN shhh about the health care and tax free lottos. We already have an immigration problem.
i noticed Nodak had a 2400$ pot but gave away $500 to 4 people and $400 to a fifth. Maybe that keeps them under a line for taxes or something

Our healthcare is wonderful and all, but it's certainly not free. The government takes 40% of our pay cheques right off the top, then we all pay 30-40% tax on gasoline, 14% tax on everything we buy (including vehicles which if they get resold 5 times in their lifespan get taxed at 14% every time). Etc etc. We get completely taxed to death and somehow the government still can't seem to balance the books.

Of the 18 mid-week shows on the 2017 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series schedule, 7 pay the $6000 to win purse. The rest pay the full $10,000 to win (or more). And 7 is the maximun number of $6000 to win shows that can be scheduled according to agreement with the full time WoO teams.

Seems like a fair deal to me. Personally I like it when they use the 6k to win shows to go back to small venues like Jacksonville or Putnamville to take the series back to its roots.

I'm not sure that Im convinced that any WoO race that pays that purse is a fair deal, however having said that, I too would love to see some smaller venues that would never be able to get an outlaw race otherwise take advantage and get a race. In the article that I quoted though Jeremy Elliot said that the 6k to win / 600$ to start purse was at Lincoln in front of a full grandstand.

Ryan, you need a better accountant if you are paying that much, lol. Or you need to set yourself up as a Contractor, you will save a fortune. Wait until you get my age then you will realize the benefits of free health care, heck I never saw a Dr. until I got in my 50's basically. The lotto stuff is still pretty sweet, I've never won but know a couple of folks that have....

I know the first couple of years Lincoln mid week show was 6k to win but the last couple of years it has been upgraded to a full 10k show. I just look at what they did at Jacksonville as a great event for a small track with only 1500 seats. Since your a Canadian I would love to see the Woo sprints tackle Brighton. They have the Woo Late Models there in the past.

My room mate won the 50/50 at Chili Bowl in 2016. He had to provide info for tax purposes when he showed his ticket. I believe the taxes were done via Oklahoma law. Either way, the first thing you should be doing when winning a large 50/50 amount (He won around 33k that year) is calling a lawyer to make sure its handled properly. Would rather pay a small fee to make sure everything is handled properly. At that money amount, its well worth it

Do all teams need to claim their winnings as income for tax purposes? Do most teams set themselves up as a business for the write off? Im sure you should be able to loose money racing each summer uf you try real hard.

I love Brighton and I'd love to see the WoO sprints there. Its definitely one of my favourite racetracks and I've won a couple Labor Day Classic SOS Sprint car races there. I was surprised to see that the WoO late models were running there because I didn't think their haulers would be able to make it over that bridge into the pits. I haven't been there in a few years - They must have either changed the bridge or pitted them off of turn one where they parked us a couple times when it was really wet.

Fair point, I guess I'm just paying into it a little at a time so that I can benefit from it in the future.
