nice car count with some surprizing cars being there.... brady bacon, carson machedo, the madsen brothers, double D, wolf and Blaney from the posse gang ...kemenah and Shaffer

nice crowd

all and all a nice night to watch racing

All those Ford stickers haven't slowed him down a bitSmile

Random Observations about last night's Silver Cup:

1. Thought car count would be a bit higher, but not complaining. Really quality field.  Thought PPM (runs Lville really well), Hodnett (been struggling so not a surprise, but they come to this show every year), Cole Duncan (runs Lville good), maybe Ryan Smith and a few others would make the tow.  But again quality field of cars and Macedo in the Helms 17 was a nice surprise.

2. They kept the pacing of the evening going really well.  C right into the Dash right into the B then a short break (as is typical) right into the A.  The night was paced really well and we were out of the track by just a few minutes past 10:00.  Kudos.

3. Watching Don Don reel in Little Haud was magnificient.  Donny slid off track early in race and lost about 2 spots.  Once he got to second he just kept reeling Haud in.  It was incredible to watch.  Haud had an huge lead.

4. Watch the highlights and watch Donny through Turns 1 and 2.  Used the middle (as he does) to perfection.  Made up a ton of ground in thos turns using the middle when everyone else was high or low.

5. I'm already a fan of Carson Macedo, but man can he wheel.  Yes he went backwards a bit in the A, but still a solid Top 10, made the dash, qualified second in his group.  All in a car he was in one other time a few days ago.  Impressive run.

6. Lucas Wolfe had an off night.  He runs Lville really well, but was just a bit off tonight.  Had to qualify through the B (which he was impressive in).  Then pulled off about half way through A.  I'm assuming to save equipment.

7. I miss Dale Blaney (I guess the Dale Blaney and George Fisher combo).  The Zemco 1 (as it has a history of doing) went backwards in the A.  Dale and George had Lville dialed in as it's one of his favorite tracks where they had a ton of success.

8. HUGE crowd.  It was hot and muggy, but the crowd was HUGE.  Good turn out.

9. Track was good.  I went out before the races with a few crew guys and it was wet, but hard.  The worry was it was going to slick off after heats, but it suprisingly didn't slick off too bad until late in the A.  TT times were close to Track record and the track held up nice.  Was a bit dicey and had some ruts in 3 and 4 but there was a nice cushion (that rolled up over the edge late in A which is how Haud flipped) and multiple lines.

Looks like it was a helluva race. Tough break for little Haud but you got to like his agressive approach to wheelin the big monsters. Schatz has won 75k in last 4 days.

Little Haud was hammer down setting a rapid early pace.  He had to know Donny was coming and once they started trading sliders he was mashing the gas, unfortunately not controlling the throttle coming off four with a cushion going up over the edge cost him.  But you can't fault him for that.  He'll learn with experience.

I'm sure his pocket book has a different thought Smile

HaHa, I do know MANY drivers absolutely did not like the 2 features for various reasons.  I do like the 1 feature more and the car count last year reflects that (though too early to tell).

If you're in the Pits swing by Carl Bowser's hauler and look for an ugly looking dude with a bunch of tattoos.  Come say hey (and grab an iced tea or two) wink

Raincheck? .... my kids joined me last night but I did wear my Terrell Suggs "I Love the Steelers" finger shirt, it was a crowd pleaser ...

Sure....also I'm not an NFL guy (the culture + it's boring as hell.  11 minutes of action in an average NFL game.  ELEVEN MINUTES.  That's it.) or a Steelers guy so I probably would've liked the shirt.

I think Little Haud is gettin close to being legit. I look for him to have  a big year next year. This is the learning year--- next year will be big.

I'm from central PA and Lernerville is my favorite PA track. Wish Lernerville was in Mechanicsburg and Williams Grove was in Sarver. It would be great if the premier sprint track in the east was a wide, high-banked, racey 4/10 instead of narrow, flat, strung-out, paper clip half-mile.

I agree 100% -- my favs are The Port and Lernerville-- Great racing at both.

WG gets plenty racey. Every track has good nights and bad nights. There's strung out races everywhere. WG is unique and offers something different other than a 4/10 hammer down freight train. People also need to realize that the unique shape makes it hard to get a perfect track every week. Be happy that we have it. There's people in other parts of the country that would love to be able to go to WG on Friday nights.

Yeah WG has it's charms and definitely the history. I like them all but in today's racing world I'd take the racing at Lernerville any day of the week, and twice on Sundays. It's 2017, WG needs to get with the program and shorten those straights so they don't get so strung out. Shorten the straights and bank the corners a little higher, now you got a dirt track!

My local slick track for kiddie go carts gets plenty racy.  Martinsville gets plenty racy.  A nice hammer down tricky top groove is what makes sprint car racing better than other motorsports.  With everyone running the same regulated stuff and a guy winning because he pedaled it the best, the only difference we have over Jennerstown is getting dirty and a higher ticket price.
