Good ol' Douchebag Danny.... Can't stand him or his family. This is one butt that he has NEVER put in a seat and NEVER will. Car owner is a real piece of work as well. Real classy.

DD is definitely a polarizing figure and again that's okay for the sport.  Let me propose a different angle to you.  If you're at a race and DD gets passed last lap in dramatic fashion and loses I'm willing to bet you garner at least a modicum of enjoyment out of that, right?  While he may not be the reason your butt was in the seat, you still gained some satisfaction from him during your race experience, even if its because he lost in dramatic fashion.  That's my point that polarizing figures can be good for the sport.  I like DD bc he's always been nothing but cordial in person in the pits and always treats kids well.  But I can see why you feel the way you do too.  Either way he's good for the sport.

Couldn't have said it better. That's exactly how I feel. No coincidence all of this is happening a week before Fred's big Speedweek show at Path Valley & just today, Rahmer Promotions announced their "Anybody but Dietrich" bounty. It's a shame that in Central PA, we now have to resort to WWE tactics instead of good, hard, exciting racing to sell tickets in the age of dirty air & cushion free skating rinks masquerading as dirt tracks. If this keeps up, Posse land is destined to become the Bowman Gray of the North & at that point, most of the race fans will be doing other things on the weekends while the stands are filled with dumb drunk rednecks who could give a shit less about actual racing because they'd much rather fist fight over whose driver is less dirty & heave beer cans at the "bad guy".

I don't spend nearly as much time at Pa. tracks as you, a few times a year, but come on.... its not THAT bad

I've never seen a fight yet, & I'm no fan of drunks, but I've never seen anybody get really obnoxious

I don't watch from Beer Hill, tho.... do you? Bad view, IMHO

Not condoning a microphone incident here (and I'm sure it was a mistake), but if you want cookie cutter, politically correct,  made for TV racing, buy Nascar tickets. There's lots available as, it's, well, cookie cutter and politically correct.

The Dale Earnharts, Darrell Waltrips, Danny Dietrichs, Fred Rahmers, Bob Weikerts, and, dare I mention it, Tyler Walkers, put butts in the seats.

I stand corrected on the FCC comment...who give a shit...words do not offend the regulars in the Area 51 seating section any way.

Danny is guilty of 1 thing...driving his ass off and making the last 10 laps worth every dollar at the gate...

Danny didn't yell it. Gary Kaufman came to Danny just as he was about to do the interview with Wayne and yelled "Fuck the Rahmers!" Which is not an uncommon thing at the racetrack. But the mic was on and it broadcasted over the pa. Now I'm sure Gary has been to a race or two. You gotta know where you're at dude. Now I have to explain once again to people that Central PA is not full of dumb rednecks. Which gets harder to do every year. From throwing beers at Donny Schatz, to the Beer Hill cheerleaders, and now this?? Starting to really piss me off. PA used to be known for good rides, good drivers, best fans. Now we're known for punk ass redneck fans and declining rides and drivers. And don't even get me started on PA speedweek racing twice at 3 different tracks. I can't wait to get to Knoxville.

Have to agree about speed"week" being expanded to 10 straight nights with 6 of the races happening at 3 tracks. Its a joke. No wonder SW car counts continue to go down only a handful of cars run the whole thing.

Agree, I wonder if any of these fans were around back in the 70's and 80's when fighting in the stands and pits were common place. It's much more family oriented these days and that's a good thing but an old-fashioned racing rivalry can be a good thing too. DD is helluva driver and is usually nothing but class on the mic.

The rivalrand Thy between DD and the Rahmers is all in good fun.....No different than the Rahmer /Shepard rivalry.....RAHMER WHO...... and the Mouth of The South......little did fans know they were pretty good friends off the track.....walk in the Pits Jeff wearing a Rahmer shirt and Rahmer a Jet Shirt.......lets face it it puts butts in the seat....Gary has only been like this in V.L since they got the Weikert sponsorship.....guess he thinks he's Bob Weikert now.....lol

Now  Rahmer and DD have a bet......If DD wins Path Valley Rahmer owes him 100 bucks if he dont win Rahmer gets 100 bucks....Seems to me the only butt hurt people are the fans with no clue. Alsp Rahmer has a 500  dollar bounty to anyone who can pass DD for the lead and win......sounds like two dudes with a friendly rivalry to me.

I think it's started out as friendly banter as you note but I'm suspecting it's actually becoming more. DD was not happy Rahmer put up the original bounty and now the other bet going on. I think we're on the brink of a true "we don't like the other person" sort of deal. Again started friendly but I don't think Danny, his crew, his owner and everyone involved with his team liked the "bounty" bit. Time will tell but there is some genuine bubbling dislike. Not full blown yet but it's there.

If someone put up 500 bucks to anyone who could pass me i would feel honored. Dd should take that as a compliment. Work with it.

If i was running second and could pass DD 500 bucks isnt gonna make me try any harder. I am male. I want to be first with or without an incentive. But id still take the cash and smile.

Bounties aren't new to the sport. And what better way to help bring fans to the tarck and peek interest. As for bounties not being new.......back in the day Bubby Smith was so dominant in the Illionois area, that certain tracks had a $1,000.00 bounty on him. In an OPEN WHEEL article, Bubby tells about the night that Jan Opperman and the Bogaar #99 pulled into the pits. "Opp" left with the extra $1,000.00 Smile That was also Bubby's first meeting with Opperman. It's a great article!

Absolutely. Listen, the only people who know how they actually feel in this situation are the parties involved.

Let's say for instance though that Dietrich is miffed at the $500 "bounty", or whatever you want to call it, being placed on him at Path Valley. If that's true, that's pretty friggin rich coming from a guy who loves to get on social media and "stir the pot" as he calls it, and "doesn't care".  In my opinion, if you're gonna give it, you better be able to take it.

That's why, in the end, I think this is all just good promoting heading into Speedweek.  I like Dietrich and think he's a hell of a driver, so I'd hate to see it be true that he's getting sensitive over a little extra money being offered to beat him.

Is there a video of the race?

It wouldn't surprise me if Fred is laughing his ass off at people taking this seriously. Fifty people show up because of this and he makes $1000 or more. Wouldn't suprise me if is he giving Danny a cut just to show up and keep it going. This race is a business deal for him after all.

Ol Fred was a pretty good driver, not a bad promoter now a days. I think all of this pre speedweek banter will be more exciting than the actual follow the leader racing of speedweek will be.
