I'm guessing you know who gets my vote.
"Rumor was he was just in the car for the time being" - no rumor there and insert any "he" of your choice - like Sammy's younger brother
Bob's best days were uncoincidentily the best days in Sprint Car Racing period exclamation point

I found this random photo on the net. Check out the swanky Weikert Operation in the background complete with spare car on the open trailer. I believe this could be the 1985 Kings Royal and they came loaded for bear.

awesome photo. Wofgang's Team in the background, Steve Kinser's car, and the kid wearing a Slammin Sammy shirt

My earliest memory of the Weikert 29 was Paul Pitzer winning at Selinsgrove, mid-late 70's.

I'd say Weld put the car on the map but Wolfie was the greatest of all the great drivers that sat behind the wheel of the 29 for sure. That is a good book.

My favorite is Kenny Weld. First time I remember seeing the car was when I was 11 and 12 years old, in '72 and '73, when Weld won the Knoxville Nationals in the 29. Their hauler was a Chevrolet pickup with a wedge on the back. Pretty cool rig. I think I've seen a picture of it in here. That was when I got my first racing t-shirt. Weld/Weikert Racing on the back, with the bull on front and the slogan, "When the green flag drops, the bullshit stops." For some reason, my mom wouldn't let me wear it to school.
