Bingo! We have a winner. When the idea of having Sammy in the car meets reality it will end abruptly and the car owner will have that "wtf was I thinking?" moment that so many before him have.

Al Hamilton called Lance Dewease after Sammy threw a fit in the pits because he could not run a competitve 8 lap heat at the Grove...Lance too kthe call...the crew swapped containment seats and Sammy was paid for the 10 laps he put on the Red 77 and headed for the hotel while Lance ran the B and qualified the car for the feature.
Fulfilling both the dream of hiring and firing SAMMY ALL WITHIN THE SAME NIGHT OF RACING...
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Thank you for sharing this story. It literally put a huge smile on my face. If only there was video of the whole incident to replay over and over. "Hired and fIred in the same day!"
Cheers!

I don't think Sammy has any desire to be his own mechanic anymore, but seems he hasn't made the 82 any faster than it's been with anyone else in it (Zomer, Clausen, Henderson). So it's fairly obvious to me that it's either the equipment (haven't ever heard anyone say they didn't have the equipment to go fast) or the crew and set-ups.
I have a hard time believing that if the driver was the problem why the car isn't miraculously winning the races with a Hall of Famer behind the wheel (that has won multiple races this season in multiple cars).
I'd say Greg should stay on as Team Manager if the owners want him to, but he seems to rub a lot of drivers, other teams, and officials the wrong way....maybe it's time for someone else to be the crew chief.

Oh it's never Sammy's fault! PLENTY of history to support that (sarcasm). I wonder why the longest time he has been in any ride is the one that he owned? Hmmmmmm

Lol. Come on guys you should all know by now that Turdkuttttttttter is a Sammy hater and a total douchebag. He hates the fact that no matter what Sammy drivers, he wins. It kills him for sure. And he was full time with the WoO just a few years ago with Big Game and Tod Quiring till he decided to only run part time schedules. Notice how when Sammy signed up to run with CJB who jumped on board with him. Yep, Quiring and his Big Game/Muddy sponsorship. Kinda shoots down your theory now doesn't it, lol. Keep the dumb comments coming dope, your posts are so filled with stupidity that people can't keep from laughing at you. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, idiot.

LMAO!!!! He's run it in one race to date. See what happens with the WoO this weekend and at the World Finals. If the car doesn't run well it's not his fault. Afterall he's won races in the CJB #1 this year not to mention the Knoxville 360 Nationals in the AG Raines #3. Hmmm

I dont think Vande is trying to say anything bad about Sammy, I think he is referring to the crew chief for the car in that post.

Yeah, I realized that after I replied. I just didn't take the time to change my post.

No problem, I read your prior post and figured it was just a typo. Otherwise I was going to guess you had multiple user names just to argue with yourself like some others on here do.

he must be doing something right at almost 61 years old to keep getting offered rides.. dont cry over spilled milk just because you are a sammy hater..#StillWinning

I simply ask if you're comment was quoted from someone or if it was your opinion, and you immediately accuse me a of being a Zomer fan. Yes I am a Zomer fan. and I also really like Greg. But you sir seem quite biased because you are clearly a Sammy fan and that's ok, but that has clouded your judgement, and surely doesn't give you any right to accuse anyone else of "being fans of a driver." Having said that, I don't know what will happen with Zomer. I could see him moving on, but for many different reasons, not just racing.

If you read the post on IBRACN.COM the car owner is quoted as saying that for 2017 the car is Zomer's if he wants it. Until Dusty himself announces something then it's pointless to speculate. I don't know Dusty, but I am a fan. This is a good car and I don't see why he would walk away from it, unless he is lining up something better? Guess we'll have to wait and hear it from him.

Correct me if I am inaccurate; If I remember previous posts, Dusty Zomer has a full-time vocation with racing being a part-time avocation. Could this possibly factor into why he is not driving at this juncture, as the travel may be a detriment to his vocation.

I think that sonoranrat "Hit the Nail" harder & closer that anyone else. Dusty is a hard-working individual, with above-average Sprint Car driving talent, however, he is also very loyal to his family ... and its trucking business. It may be very complicated & stressful for him to pour into this racing game a-continual-100% effort, and still find enough energy left-over to diligently perform his very important duties within the families trucking business. Dusty is a pretty good friend of mine; I have nothing except respect for him, his sportsmanship, and his integrity. If he gets back in the 82, it will be his decision, and it will be mutual between the Owner, the Crew Chief/Mngr ... and that decison will be achieved in a rational, logical & business-like fashion. This post is not to troll for comments &or arguments, however, it would be great to see positive posts instead of so many negative about this team, (as-well as other teams/tracks/drivers) the Ownership, and the Crew Chief/Mngr. The racing game is complex & extremely costly for everyone involved, including the Owners, the Tracks, and the drivers. If we want Dirt-Track Racing to Survive & Prosper ... all of us need to PROMOTE Dirt-Track Racing, Its Racing Facilities, the Car Owners, their Personnel & Drivers. I do not own any portion of any car, I do not sponsor any car, and do not work for any team ... I just pay to enjoy them; I would simply hate to see the 25 - 30 nights that I spend every season at many of the various tracks with my family, grand-children & friends come to an unneccesary end.

I can tell you with 100% confidence that the family business had no part in the decision.
