I was sitting around the other night, thinking back to some of the great drivers who had their careers cut short. I always wonder which ones would be household names if they were still racing. One that is always at the top of my list is Page Jones. I truly believe that he was bound for greatness.
What are some of your picks?

Kara Hendrick. Lost her life in a midget accident about 15 years ago. I had the pleasure of watching her become a true contender just prior to her death. Another was Jim Dunn, a dirt late model driver from Ohio. He was one of only a few fatalities ever in that realitively safe class.

Living: Brad Doty. Without any doubt in my mind. Anyone who ever saw him race, or knows him and knows his passion, drive, and perseverance would have to agree. He might now have unseated the "King" but he sure would have given him fits over the last 15 years or so.
Passed on: Robbie Stanley. In my mind, he would have likely gone as far as Gordon, Newman, Stewart, etc. if he chose the same career path. That boy could drive.

Although he opted out of the sport safe and sound, Billy Kennelly was the best driver I ever saw out of the great Northwest.

Nolan Johncock, Gordon's Brother
The G-Man was just hitting his stride...
He may not have been a 'great' driver on the National scene but John Bankston was awfully good locally and ANYONE who ever spent time with him will not soon forget it, Take It Easy....

And, had John Bangston not been fatally injured at Eldora, he would still be racing. Sure miss that #8

Jimmy Gordon a Northern California super modified driver was killed in 1970.
Rich Vogler left us much to soon as well.
