RED RIVER ROUNDUP Kicks Off 2016 RRS Season March 4-5!

Wichita Falls, TX (2/22/16) by
DarinShort.com. Red River Speedway (RRS) near Wichita Falls, TX will kick off the 2016 racing season with what will certainly be two wild days of open wheel racing at the Red River Roundup.

The two-day event will be held March 4th & 5th, and will feature the RRS RaceSaver Sprint Cars sanctioned through the newly formed Sprint Series of Oklahoma (SSO), the POWRi West Midget Series and the NOW (National Open Wheel) Series for three 600 divisions.

The current long-range forecast currently shows 'green flag' weather conditions, with dry skies and daytime highs in the 70's. Hopefully that trend will come through on race weekend.

This will is the first crack at the new Red River Speedway for all three Series. An excellent field of cars is expected. All divisions will race a complete program of heat races, B- and A-features nightly...so race fans are in for two jammed nights of racing, all at just $15/night for adult grandstand admission! Kids ages 6-11 are just $5 nightly, while ages 65+ and Active Military will be $12/night.

The pit area opens by 3pm nightly, with the grandstands opening by 6pm on Friday and 4pm Saturday. Races are set to start at 8pm on Friday and 6pm Saturday. All pit passes for all ages are $30 nightly. There are no entry fees due to RRS for any racing division. Drivers in each division should be familiar with their individual Series rules and formats posted at their online news outlets.

The SSO is open to ALL RaceSaver legal cars, including RRS Champ Sprint teams (which are legal in the RRS RaceSaver division just like in 2015). Note that the SSO has provisions in their rules for Champ Sprints. Click
www.facebook.com/SprintSeriesOfOklahoma for more information. RRS has offered a solid purse for this division, which pays $700/win and $250/start on Friday and $1,000/win and $250/start on Saturday. Any Sprint Car non-qualifiers each night receive $100.

The RRS RaceSaver division track points awards from 2015 will be distributed at this event.

Driver pre-registration for this event is free, and takes just a moment to complete, by going to:
www.RRSpeedway.com (the form is on the top of the page). Note to drivers: RaceCeivers and Mufflers are required for all divisions.

Note to the RRS Modified, SportMod, ProStock and MiniStock divisions: your 2015 awards will be distributed the following weekend, March 11th-12th, at RRS during The Rumble at Red River; which is a 2-day special featuring the Texas Outlaw Modified Series; plus SportMods, an IMCA Stock Car vs ProStock challenge and MiniStocks. All four divisions will be racing on each day. A complete event flyer for March 11th-12th is already posted. The 2016 RRS schedule is also posted. If you have questions, please contact track promoter Kevin Ramey at
[email protected] or at 817-988-7433.

Back to the Red River Roundup on March 4th-5th, the exciting Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget Series will compete each night for a minimum of $1,000/win and $125/start. If 25 or more Midgets are on hand, the purse goes up from there on a nightly basis. Visit
www.POWRi.com for all Series news, rules and info.

Rounding out this massive triple-header event will be the first-ever appearance of the NOW600 Series presented by MyRacePass. Click
www.NOW600series.com to learn all about the Series, including rules and format. All three NOW600 divisions (Non-winged, A-Class and Restricted) will have a complete program of heats and features nightly. In addition to the standard NOW600 Series payback, RRS is adding $350 nightly to each of the Non-Winged and A-Class A-feature purses (for a total of $1,400)...with no entry fee due to RRS for any of the divisions.

Again, each night will be a complete racing program for all five of the Red River Roundup racing divisions; including heat races, B- and A-features.

An event flyer is posted at the track website and on Facebook.
