Sympathy to the family and friends.
You really have to give a lot of credit to guys like Bob who made plenty of trips to races back in the day when the purses were not large. People like Bob would field cars with good, exciting drivers, sometimes new to the fan base drivers which was always exciting. Bob was also a true pioneer in car development. Thanks for your contribution to the sport.

Rest in Peace Bob. In the past few years my every visit to Knoxville Raceway was highlighted by visiting with you at the NSCHoF&M. Your memory of races and trips to races was always so sharp and entertaining. Your willingness to visit with general race fans at the museum was a blessing to the many fans you met with and for the Hall of Fame & Museum. I'm so pleased that you fought so hard against the numerous, severe health problems you experienced during the past few years and lived long enough that the book covering your life was completed and published just prior to this year's Knoxville Nationals. At this year's Nationals it was great seeing you and Larry Weeks signing your book everywhere in and around Knoxville Raceway and the NSCHoF&M. I'm sure you must've been pleased with the number of people who were interested enough in you and your lifetime commitment to auto racing, especially sprint car racing, to purchase your great book and then stand in line to have you autograph it. I'm sure glad I did. Sadly your last checkered flag flew today but now you can share racing stories with your grandson Mark and with your peers-- all the other NSCHoF'ers at the Great Dirt Track above. Rest well Bob you deserve it.

Bob was a one of a kind . There will never be another person that worked so hard with a low budget and accomplish so much. He had cars he built racing from the east coast to the west coast. He built several hundred cars but would race 4 nights a week if a race was in hauling distance. Bob could be grumpy at times but in a good way. If you were not doing something right he would tell you so then grab the wrench and do it for you. Buy the Trostle Book, you will be amazed at what he did with not alot of money.

One of a half dozen of the greatest minds/people in our sports history. If you asked every person in sprint car racing that he helped to make a post it would be the biggest thread of all-time. A man who went through life making friends, not always an easy thing to do, RIP Mr. Trostle....

I was also very fortunate to have visited with Bob on many occasions during the Nationals. A very humble man. Less than a handful of builders and innovators with his background and humble beginings ever attracted the number of talented drivers and acheived what Bob did. He and Doug Wolfgang were a combination from nowhere that took the sport to a whole new level. That Karl Kinser was as smart as they come goes without saying. Karl was even smart enough in 1980 when Steve trashed the #11 sprinter at the Nationals, to seek out Bob Trostle and partner up. Karl's engine and Bob's car. And all they did was win the Nationals! RIP Bob Trostle. You earned more respect in your lifetime than you probably were aware of.
