Josh Schneiderman – Second at 34 Raceway Highlights Weekend!

(Bill W) August 26, 2015 – After a tough Knoxville Nationals that saw an exciting ending, Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team got back in action with the three-night Sprint Invaders Nationals last weekend.  The highlight was a second place finish at the 34 Raceway near West Burlington, Iowa on Saturday.  This weekend, will see the team battling with the FVP National Sprint League on Season Championship Night at the Knoxville Raceway.

Though mechanical issues plagued the team at the Knoxville Nationals, Josh started dead last in the E main and passed a total of 19 cars before stalling out in the D.  “The Nationals hasn’t been kind to us the last few years,” he says.  “We haven’t had a lot of luck.  We had some mechanical failures early in the week.  We got it going on Saturday night.  We were extremely fast the E, and extremely fast in the D.  We just needed a few more cautions to bunch everyone up in the D.”

Last Friday night, the Sprint Invaders hit the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. “Donnellson was actually a little too fast early,” says Josh.  “We started fourth and finished third in the heat.  We were right on Randy Martin for second, but just couldn’t quite get around him.”

It was a tough start from inside row five in the main event for Josh.  “We had a great car for the feature,” he says.  “There were a couple guys who wanted to win it on the first lap.  They spun out in front of us and I had nowhere to go and ran into them.  We bent up the nose wing a little bit.”

Starting at the rear, he began a charge to the front.  “We got back going o.k.,” says Josh.  “We were back up to eighth.  Third through seventh were sitting there in front of us.  You can’t pass them by following them, so I hit the low groove a little bit.  I clipped an infield tire and plowed into the fence.  It made for a long, long night and a long, long morning at work.”

Josh would start seventh in his heat Saturday at 34 Raceway.  “We drew pretty badly for the best heat race of the night,” he says.  “The track was fast and we only made it up to fifth.  We had a nice car.”

Starting 13th the #49 would roar to finish second behind Josh’s uncle, John Schulz.  “We were good from the get-go,” he says.  “We had a little trouble with some of the traffic.  We made some moves and we were running third behind Jarrod (Schneiderman).  We made some moves to get to second and I felt we had something for John.  We just ran out of laps.”

The weekend ended Sunday in Illinois at Quincy Raceways.  “It was gut slick from the start,” says Josh.  “It was throwing dust in hot laps.  We had to start in the back of the heat, and you couldn’t really tell where you were going because the dust was so bad.  We managed to get up to fifth.”

Josh would checker 15th.  “We tried some things with the car to work on the short track and dry conditions,” he says.  “We just never really got going.”
