RED RIVER SPEEDWAY *IS RACING* TONIGHT as of 9:45AM; SEVERAL UPDATES
Wichita Falls, TX (4/24/15) by DarinShort.com. In light of the fact that the pesky weather system has impacted a large swath of the country, we're going to jump right in to Red River Speedway (RRS) track updates, in the interest of quickly getting this communication posted:
-The Friday, April 24th event at RRS IS STILL ON, as of 9:45AM. It hasn't rained at the track (.02" is all, early this morning) at this point, and the sun is poking out right now.
-The weather system is currently taking shape just to our east, but is supposed to clear RRS by 1pm today. At that point the dry line is supposed to cross the area, signifying the end of precip chances.
-WE WILL POST AN OFFICIAL UPDATE BY 1:30PM TODAY, just in case we get clipped by a storm in the meantime. But right now, NOAA is stating any precip in the area of the track to be gone by 1pm, and the track is ready to race on...currently.
We have lots of other RRS updates:
- There is a big two-day drag race at WichitaRacewayPark.com on May 1-2, so the Friday, May 1st event at RRS has been removed from the schedule.
-That means the next race (after tonight) at RRS will be Friday, May 8th and will feature a $16,000+ purse for the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars, USRA Modifieds, IMCA Southern SportMods, Mini Stocks, Factory Stocks and Pro Stocks.
-The May 15th event at RRS has been removed from the schedule, as many of our Modified and SSM drivers will be attending the World Dirt Track Championship at TMS. Click www.darinshort.com/world.html for more information.
-The May 22nd event at RRS has been removed from the schedule and replaced with an open practice night for any and all racing divisions (see next line item). Times and prices will be posted soon.
-Coming Sunday, May 24th (of Memorial Day weekend) will be a three-division blockbuster event featuring $3,000 to win and $175 to start (24th!) for Southern SportMod (SSM) legal cars; plus $1,000 to each USRA legal Modifieds and RaceSaver (and RRS Champ Sprint legal) Sprint Cars! There will be NO entry fees with $15 adult grandstand admission and $35 pit passes. Racing on Sunday, May 24th will start at 7pm (all times moved up 1 hour).
-We'll post details of the May 24th event in an event flyer very soon. But here is the purse structure:
SSM legal cars: $3,000 - $1,200 - 800 - 600 - 500 (5th) - 400 - 300 - 250 - 200 - 175...to 24th! All NQ will receive $30.
Sprint Car & Modified feature payback: $1,000 - 700 - 500 - 400 - 350 (5th) - 250 - 225 - 200 - 190 - 180 (10th) - 170 - 160 - 150 - 140 - 135 - 130 - 125...to 24th! Any NQ will receive $50.

Here are the details for the FRIDAY APRIL 24 RRS event:
-Pit Gates open by 5pm, Grandstands open at 6pm, Draw Cutoff at 7:15pm, with Racing by 8pm. Adult Grandstand (ages 12-64) tickets are $12. Seniors/Active Military (with I.D.) $8. Ages 11 and under - free grandstand admission with Adult purchase. All pit passes, all ages $30.
-If you have yet to register your car for the 2015 RRS season, you can do so upon your arrival; but please try to get there early, as we will be staying on schedule.
-We are racing IMCA RaceSaver/RRS Champ Sprint Cars, USRA Modifieds, IMCA Southern SportMods, Factory Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Pro Stocks. Rules and links are posted at the track website. Please check your division rules before submitting questions, to save us all time.
