For Immediate Release

CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINTS MAKE FIRST OF FOUR APPEARANCES AT VENTURA THIS SATURDAY!

(Placentia, CA, April 7, 2015)  The California Lightning Sprint Car Series is headed to the Ventura Raceway for the first of four times in 2015 this Saturday, April 11th.  Spectator gates will open at 3:00 PM and the first race will be at 5:30.  Joining the CLS on the program will be the VRA Sprint Cars, Dwarf Cars, IMCA Modifieds, NMRA Three Quarter Midgets and Go Karts.

Bobby Michnowicz, driving the T-Shirts by Timeless/Rosson Racing/Pflum & Wagner Racing/Fuel Safe Racing Cells/Keizer Wheels/DLX Chassis/Kawasaki ZX10 #21k, is two for two heading into Saturday’s race having won the CLS first two races at El Centro and Bakersfield.  Coming into this week’s event, the longtime Lomita based racer has a 58-point lead over Murrieta’s Cori Andrews in the championship standings.  Fort Irwin’s Jeff Dyer, Corey Hoover of Corona and Upland veteran Alex Grigoreas round out the top five.   Andrews currently sits on top of the BCRA (Bay Cities Racing Association) Midget Lite standings after scoring a win at Antioch last Saturday.

The CLS portion of the show will feature hot laps, heat races and a 20-lap main on Saturday.  A B-main may also be warranted depending on car count.

Over the past two year at the picturesque ocean side oval located adjacent to the beach on the Ventura County Fairgrounds, three different drivers have won the four main events.  Corona’s Stephen Limon, the 2013 CLS champion who is moving up to the USAC/CRA Series for 2015, has won two of those four races. Stockton’s Jonathon Henry has picked up one of the wins and Kingsburg’s Doug Nunes the other.  Nunes win was at the last CLS race at Ventura in October.

After Saturday’s race at Ventura, the CLS will take a week off before heading to the Bakersfield Speedway for the second time of the year on April 25th

The other three appearances for the CLS at the 1/5 Ventura mile dirt oval in 2015 will be on June 6, July 11 and October 17th.
