Hemby Bridge, NC – McLain Motorsports attended the 18th Annual United Sprint Car Series Banquet at Andretti Indoor Carting and Games in Roswell, GA on Saturday, January 24th.

The afternoon started off with some of the most delicious hamburgers and hot dogs. The baked beans were out of this world. After burger twelve, it was time for some heated heat races with the top three from each race to settle their differences in a feature event following the banquet.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t a weight rule making hair pin turns Brandon’s worst enemy on this beautiful Saturday. He was able to bully his way past Riggins, Sr. at the line though for a solid fifth place run.

Onto the banquet where everyone got to listen to fascinating stories of Pete’s travels to the left coast with stops at Wilwood Disc Brakes, JE Pistons, and K&N Filter distribution plants. With a stage full of trophies and plaques, the McLain’s patiently waited their turn to snag something shiny. In the meantime, it was entertaining listen to how everyone else’s season turned out.

Finally, a McLain was heading to the front of the room. Jacob and all his shaggy hair walked across the stage to accept his 9th place plaque for the USCS “Road to Atlanta” asphalt series. Brandon would soon follow with a 3rd place Road to Atlanta plaque. A few minutes later, he would again accept a 3rd place trophy for the Southern Thunder Series, and again for an 8th place National Series trophy. Then it was onto the biggest trophy to head back to Union County that would become Brandon’s prized possession, the 2014 USCS National Rookie of the Year. He was joined on stage by his father, Doug, and brother, Jacob. Seconds later, Pete would introduce Douglas as the 2014 Rookie Crew Chief of the Year.

All three McLain’s would leave Atlanta that evening with hardware that had their name on it!

To add toppings to the ice cream, prizes were given to every driver several times throughout the trophy presentation. Everyone walked away with lots of something. Just to name a few of the certificates now sitting on Doug’s kitchen table would include Pyrotech Racing Cells, Saldana Racing Products, 2 sets of Schoenfeld Headers, Wilwood Disc Brakes, and 20 gallons of fuel curtesy of the United Sprint Series.

It was an awesome day and we were glad to make the trip to Atlanta once again. Special thanks to Sherri, Pete, and the rest of the USCS crew who worked so hard to make all this possible.

Oh… thanks for the grand prize, a brand new set of JE Pistons! That check was really grand too!

Oh, oh.... it was Dad's birthday too so if you haven't wish him one, just leave a note here. I'll let him know you were thinking about him.

Glad you had a great time. Sounds like Pete and his series fills a nice niche and treats his drivers right.
