Depending upon the laws of Minnesota the commission may have the authority to sell any propert it owns if it follows the procedures required by law.  Where I live the county government could sell any of its property with only the approval of the commissioners.  The general public may not be happy with the sale but can do little about the decision.  They can vote the commissioners out the next time they are up for election but the sale would not be reversable.

Can you tell us where you are getting this info? I checked the Jackson County board meeting minutes and didn't see any of this info.

I think if they changed it to a 3/8 mile track they would get more cars. I hear some smaller budget teams in Minnesota area wont go there right now because of how much wear the engines takes. If I remember correctly, Wolfgang said " if you want to see what kind of motor you have...take it to Jackson". Not only will it get more cars they will have much much better racing. I like Jackson but usually little to no passing which im ok with because i just like to watch sprints all the time anywhere but not everyone is a die hard fan. just wonder if they do shorten it to 3/8 mile would they still have the micro track.....

There doesn't need to be a source.  It's November on HH's.  wink

We've got verification from a reliable source.  wink

In the grand scheme of things wondering about who will own a race track I haven't been to in three or four years is not keeping me awake nights.  If Todd from Big Game were to purchase the track and shorten it to a 3/8 I think it would be a top notch facility.  I'd probably have to throw some duct tape on the mini van and see if it will make it all the way down there if that were to happen.  I grew up watching racing on a half mile but night in and night out I like the side by side action on the short tracks.  Some of the Fairgrounds won't sell any of their property so if it were to happen I'm certain there would be an agreement to work with their County Fair events.

I believe they already re-worked the track and added a inside berm. They are removing all the "Big Tires" and worked with the banking some.. That being said the micro track is a eye sore in my opinion and has already robbed some of the history of the place. There are already hundreds of Short tracks throughout the country, like we need another. Leave it as 1/2 mile and make it racy!! Yes it can be done!!

Just curious why people think that the sale of Jacksons race track would end the weekly 360 program?

Specials only maybe. Weekly 360 car count is pretty sparse.

I figured making it a 3/8 would save weekly 360 racing. Isn't the big half what's stopping all of the Sioux Falls area guys from coming over to Jackson and racing for a better purse on Saturday nights? Only time will tell! Its definitely an interesting start to the off-season.

Long straights stop most of the guys to the west, ,,, and rocks. Hopefully they have the rock/junk problem under control with the sifting they did to all the material.
