Important Stockton start time info- Race teams, drivers meeting Sunday is scheduled for 3pm, wheel packing at 3:30pm. We want the 1st heat to fire off at 6pm, which is an hour earlier than normal. However, that has always been the advertised start time for the event because of the two classes. So please pass the word! Front gate still opens at 4pm.

Brent Kaeding looks to add a 5th Tribute to Gary Patterson on SUNDAY at the Stockton Dirt Track

By Gary Thomas

Stockton, CA - October 31, 2014...Campbell’s Brent Kaeding will finish off his 36th year of Sprint Car racing on Sunday at the Stockton Dirt Track. The 13-time Golden State/ King of the West 410 Series champion ranks third in the KWS standings going into the season finale, which marks the 31st annual Tribute to Gary Patterson.

The National Sprint Car Hall of Famer is a 4-time Tribute to GP winner, which is tied with Steve Kent for the most all time in the history of the event. BK this year has claimed three victories with the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo & looks to cap the season with a KWS victory.

The 2014 campaign has also been his first as one of the Managing Directors with the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series. Sunday's race is the 18th & final round of action and concludes the 29th season of operation for the tour. Next year marks a milestone for the series, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

“This season has been a special one for all involved and we hate to see it end. The racing has been second to none this year and we hope all the fans have enjoyed it. We also want to thank Tony Noceti for doing everything to get this weekend’s event in, even with a little mother nature. We really hope to see everyone come out and support the Tribute to GP on Sunday. This is a historic event and one you definitely do not want to miss.”

Will Call & Ticket Booth opens at 2pm this Sunday November 2 at the Stockton Dirt Track, with the front gate opening at 4pm. The physical address for the Stockton Dirt Track is 1658 S Airport Way, Stockton, CA 95206. The car show & live band will still take place from noon to 4pm behind the grandstands.

Air One HVAC Systems has put up $200 to the KWS fast time qualifier on Sunday.

There is also currently $5500 on the line for the dashes that will be held on Sunday with the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series & Civil War Sprint Car Series presented by Flowmaster. Thanks to Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats, Reeves Sand & Gravel, Panella Racing Engines, Don from Modesto Steel & Nascimento Motorsports for their support.

Known as the "Dancing Phantom from Stockton," the "Preacher," the "Hostile Hippie" or just simply "GP," Gary Patterson was one of the most colorful characters of his time and captured a number of major wins in his career, including the Gold Cup Race of Champions, the Super Dirt Cup in Washington and the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Ascot Park among others.

Patterson lost his life in a Sprint Car crash at Calistoga Speedway on Memorial Day weekend 1983 and an event in his memory has been held every year since. “GP” moved to Stockton, California in 1957 and actually began his career at the Stockton 99 Speedway. This season will be the second time we’ve paid Tribute to Gary Patterson at the Stockton Dirt Track.

Give them a call. I'm sure if you offer to pay for the extra payroll, they'll open earlier.
