Well this is a shocker but Mark Dobmeier & Dave Lunstra are parting ways according to Lunstra Motorsports. Mark is going to step back from the vigorous schedule to stay closer to home.
Good luck Dobs!!!

It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the conclusion of Dave Lunstra and Mark Dobmeier's racing partnership. Mark has decided to take a step back from our rigorous racing schedule and stick closer to home. This partnership was very successful and could never be duplicated. Together, we won countless races, 2 World of Outlaw wins, 5 Huset Speedway track championships, a Knoxville nationals preliminary night win & 3 Knoxville national A main starts. The bonds and relationships that were established during our eight year partnership are unbreakable. We want to thank our family, friend's, sponsor's and fans for your never ending love and support.
Best of luck to both!!!

Man, that was a POTENT combination and I hope to still see Dobs at K'ville once in a while? Will this mean the Lunstra #13 will still be a regular ride at K'ville? Regardless, they were fun to watch!

Dob will be missed if we dont see him weekly at Knoxville. One of the craziest/most fun guys to watch at any track! Seems odd to split when Dob is in his prime. I bet we will see him run around Knoxville once again someday.

Zomer would be a good fit in any ride but I would doubt it. I think the real question is whether Zomer will continue to run his steady ride in the 91 at Knoxville or will the BWW car try and have him as a full time driver. It may be tempting with the promises of more racing yet you wouldnt want the 91 car to replace you if your ride didnt pan out. Let the driver changes begin.

Travis runs a transmission shop in Crystal, Minnesota, a Minneapolis suburb. He runs a part time scedule of approximately 15 races per season and spends a lot of time doing things with his family outside of racing. Dobmeier didn't want to race that much, Travis races even less than Mark did.

I have absolutely no inside information on this matter but somehow this just does sound correct. There is probably more than this release via Facebook reveals to this breakup but we may never know. Then again we might find out more in the coming weeks as something is just not jelling with that statement. Does it seem that way to others out there or is it just me?

It's a long tow mid-week from Grand Forks to some of the planned NSL shows and I can't blame Dobmeier for making this decision.
I hope the Lunstra's continue to field a car in our area as they have for so many years. Truly one of the best guys in the sport.
I have a feeling this is going to work out for both parties and they will still continue to be close friends going forward. Good luck to everyone involved going forward.

I'm going on a limb and saying Dobs is going to be in a big game car. Just my .02 cents

I don't think there is any wildcard here. Mark & crew put in the most miles per week that any 'local' driver has in the country for the past 7-8 years. He & his wife have one toddler and I believe they either just had or are expecting a second child. On top of that, he has his own business to run. That is a lot to juggle. If I had to guess on what he will do next year and this is a pure guess on my part, I think he will run River Cities every Friday & possibly Husets on Sunday's. Then mix in Knoxville every once in a while for the money shows.

Finally a voice of reason. Occam's Razor states that "among competing hypothesis the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected. Other more complicated solutions my ultimately prove correct but in the absence of certainty the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected first".
My observation is that whenever anything changes in Sprint Car racing the tinfoil hat theories abound. In reality the answer is probably as simple as business + todlers + wife needing help with kids = change of routine. It's a huge commitment putting everything else in life on the back burner for racing. To me the surprise isn't so much that this change was made as it is how he handled that intense schedule all those years. Sometimes I think we forget that weekend racers have a life outside of racing.

This is such a bummer. They were such a great team. His WoO win at Huset's this season is one I'll not soon forget.
