I was just checking weather report for Knoxville 410 races & it looks threatening. What do they do in case of  "the r-word"?

They almost have to run the saturday night show saturday night because people have plane tickets or have to drive home sunday BUT if they get rained out twice then they probably have to make sunday a option. More than once they have run the friday night show on saturday afternoon and that sucks but what do you do

A couple of years ago the first heat on Wed or Thur night rolled off just after midnight.  Unfortunately the track was one fast groove and there wasn't much passing.

There is a lot of alternatives.  One year we were rained out on Wed. so they ran the Thursday night show as scheduled, then on Friday at 11:00 am they ran the Wed. show and then all was well.  A couple times we rained out on Sat. night and they ran it either on Sunday afternoon or evening.  Just trying to recall from memory.  Don't have a fit if I missed one little fact.  lol

My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

Thanks everyone, I guess we can just hope for the best. A few years ago there was lighning on the horizon & it started drizzling on the way to parking lot after races, then a full blown hellacious thunderstorm on the drive home. The racing gods must have put in a request with Mother Nature....

Ah yes--1st time I ever removed my hat for the national anthem at midnight!  Not a great night of racing but it was one I will never forget.  My group dropped about $150 on beer at the bowling alley waiting for the rain to stop.  We were a pumped up group of dudes when they announced that they were indeed going to run the races that night.  Memorable to say the least.  Had a blast heading back to the campground at 3:00 or so but where the hell did we have to be the next day?

I don't think you will see an afternoon qualifying show again unless the forecast is just not going to cooperate until after Sunday.  I think they will run all qualifying if possible at night.  (I mean Wednesday and thursday prelim nights--not Friday night--they will run that in the afternoon)  Saturday afternoon shows suck--but I will take them to keep the Saturday night show on track!!  (no pun intended)

I looked at the forecast--typical August forecast.  A chance of rain--but it isn't May.  USUALLY, the rain doesn't dominate middle Iowa in early August.  It passes through.  A few years back, I believe the Knoxville area received in the neighborhood of 8-10 inches of rain during the 10 days of speedweeks.  Amazingly--they got every race in on schedule!!!  Party all day--watch racing all night.  Overnight--rain, wind, thunder, cows flying by the camper--it wasn't pretty, but we made it!

Forecasts beyond 2 or 3 days are as worthless as tits on a boar.  I'll worry starting on Monday.  Either way, that dirty whore Mother Nature owes us a couple of long nights or rainouts because she's a worthless bitch.

Can you tell I have no use for rain in mid-Iowa in August?

Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

after years of waiting, finally made my one and only trip to nationals about 7 years ago.  Plane tickets, hotels, rental cars...headed to Osky after landing on Tues afternoon for ultimate challege...rained out.  No big deal...we're really here for the nationals.  Weds nite:  rained out.  Ugh, what a let down.  Finally making it back this year to the Nationals, again hotels, planes, money is spent.  really hoping forecast improves...

What if it rains very day? Forcast says 50/50 chance.

I think I've been hanging around with my 91 yr. old Mom too much this summer. She loves to worry....

Actually, I'm glad I still have the chance to hang out with her
