58th Hutch Nationals Await NCRA Sprints This Weekend!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – July 21, 2014 – The tradition continues this weekend as the “Mid-Summer Classic,” which is the 58th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Hutchinson Grand Nationals presented by Mel Hambelton Ford, is now upon us. The Friday and Saturday night, July 25-26, event will see the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products sprint car tour take to the track both nights with Friday night’s “Dash” qualifier winner taking home $1000. Then on Championship Saturday night, the night’s feature finale winner will not only be crowned Hutchinson Grand Nationals champion in the sprint car division but will also take home $3000. If a driver can win both Friday night’s dash and Saturday night’s championship, $4000 will be won.

A new format and largest pay ever for the traditional two night event held at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas will await drivers in the sprint car division. Below is the weekend agenda:

Any sprint car driver who can win Friday night’s Dash Qualifier will take home $1000 and if that driver also wins the championship feature on Saturday night, they will take home $3000. Regardless, winning the Hutchinson Grand Nationals on Saturday night is still not a bad pay night. Just starting the twenty-four car field pays $300 to start Saturday night’s finale.

The format for the NCRA Sprint division is as follows:

Friday night – Every car will draw for heat race with the top fifteen in passing points going to the night’s “A” feature. The top six finishers will be locked in heads up for the championship feature on Saturday night.

Saturday night – Cars that finished 7-15 in Friday night’s feature will be lined up for the front spots of two (2) dashes (7th on pole of first dash, 8th on pole of second dash, 9th on outside of first dash, tenth on outside of second dash, etc.) with the remainder six (6) spots in each dash will be filled by the cars finishing 16th and below in passing points from Friday night to make the fifteen car dashes. The top six from each dash will go to the Championship feature.

Cars that finish seventh through fifteenth will fill the top spots of two (2) last chance races. The remainder of the cars from passing points will be added to the back of the field. The top three from each race will advance and round out the 24 car championship field on Saturday night.

With this new format, each car entered on Friday will have three chances to get into the Championship “A” feature on Saturday night. If you choose to come Saturday only you will have only one (1) chance to make the “A” feature and the best starting spot would be nineteenth. Also, each car transferring from all dashes and last chance races will pay money, no transfer – no money.
