Got tix this year for the back straight bleachers section- Q row 22. We usually sit front straight section -A. How do these compare?

They are suppose to have a new board up and running by Nationals. It is suppose to be bigger and more legible as it will be an LED board.

Section Q on the back stretch are the best seats in the house. The first time they come out of two at full speed you will think they are going to land in your lap! You will love it.

Haven't heard that one.  If so, they have about a week to get it installed (after Friday of this week, it will be tough to do with the amount of work they do on the track, fence, painting, the work they must get done on the backstretch (currently no fence around the stands as they put up a new building and don't have the quanset hut torn down yet) before the 360 Nationals.

I know part of their 3 year plan is a new scoreboard, but I thought that was a couple more years down the road.

If the new board is much better than the old one (can't be worse, I hope!?), we should all probably buy a racing t-shirt or two from RJ Johnson for speeding up the painful process of dealing with the hunk of crap in turn 3!!  wink

Sounds like a good idea. I'm glad Impact made the new board, they seem to do a pretty good job on smaller video signs. Hoping it is HD quality!

If it's the same type and resolution as out by the highway, it's not HD, it's just an LED video board.  Won't be any better quality picture.

Maybe Impact donated this to the raceway (the fairboard voted down spending $500 to pour concrete on teh backstretch where people come into the stands, no way they approved spending that much on a whim...

being told it is HD, but until it's up and running, no guarantee it will be any more visible (depending on where you sit).

Hope so, but thus far the new PA has been lackluster (still can't hear them talk most of the time and never when cars are on the track).

If it's at least twice as large as the old one, it may be visible from maybe section G or so, but doubt it's any better from AA--E.

How about instead of crucifying the thing before its even up and running, wait till they get it up and we'll all see whether its good or not. I assume your debbie downer about it because you weren't Johnny on the spot on this happening in Knoxville, therefore it can't be any good.

Don't get all mad at me now Vande, I'm just giving you a hard time. Most of the time I do truly agree with the points you make on here. I am going to be in Knoxville for the whole 410 Nationals so if you have a particular hang out let me know and I'd be willing to stop by and say Hi.

not crucifying, just being realistic.  I'm not sure if it was 4 times as big if section AA would be able to see it very well (HD or not).  It's just a matter of how far away you are from turn #4.

I think a lot of people have the "perception" that $$$ is unlimited and the racetrack can get an HD screen like the ones they have at Dallas Stadium and the like (those cost more than what they plan on spending in TOTAL for all upgrades including a new 4 story building).

Now, as I stated before, their 3 year plan (which the big screen was part of) isn't even supposed to start for another year (they actually had anticipated for the bill going though the statehouse to take 2 years to pass (which would be NEXT YEAR)).

Now, maybe the RJ Johnson crash changed things, but my guess is that Impact may be "sponsoring" the video board, because the fairboard would have to sign off on spending the $$ to put a new one up (and I'm fairly certain that they have not (and most don't see anything wrong with the one that was there).
