‘For the Love of Alex’ $1300/win Ltd Mods at LoneStar, May 3

On April 26, 2010 Trisha and Robert Taylor received the call that forever changed their lives, as their daughter Alex had been in an accident and was being taken by air flight to East Texas Medical Center, and would not survive her injuries. The accident was attributed to texting and driving.

Robert is veteran LoneStar Speedway driver, along with his wife Trisha, want to help raise awareness of the dangers of texting and driving, and they have started a Facebook page titled “For the Love of Alex, Stop Texting and Driving.” Click www.facebook.com/ForTheLoveOfAlexStopTextingAndDriving to ‘like’ the page and learn more about their awareness efforts.

On Saturday, May 3rd a special event will be held at LoneStar Speedway to help further raise awareness with the running of the “For the Love of Alex, Stop Texting and Driving” 25-lap feature race for Limited Modifieds. The race will pay $1,300 to the winner.

A long list of sponsors have stepped up to help support the awareness effort, and they include: Tyler Weathermakers Inc., Dunn's Transmission, Day Motorsports, Idle Creek Speed Shop, ENERFLEX Energy, Watkins Insurance, Hilliard Box Insurance, Bill Cooper, KMA Motorsports and Madhouse Designs,Country Autos and Qwik Racecars.

With the assistance of these great sponsors, there is no entry fee for the Limited Modifieds to this event, and the complete purse breakdown is as follows: $1,300 – 800 – 600 – 500 – 250 – 200 – 160 – 140 – 120 – 100 – 80 – 80 – and $60 for all other starters of the feature.

$100 will go to the Limited Modified feature race ‘Hard Charger’ (the driver that advances the most positions from their starting position) and $50 will go to the pole sitter.

It will be a point’s race for all LoneStar divisions and will pay $1,000 to win and $100 to start for Modifieds, and $300 to win and $40 to start for Factory Stocks. Beginner Factory Stocks will complete the 4-division racing card. Purse breakdown and rules for all divisions are on the track website. Click www.LoneStarSpeedway.com for details.

As in every 2014 LoneStar point’s night events, non-qualifier money will be paid in all three divisions: $50 for Modifieds, $30 for Limited Modifieds and $20 for Factory Stocks. There is no entry fee in any race divisions; all pit passes are $30.

Adult tickets will be $12 (ages 12-64), while Seniors/Active Military are $10, Kids (ages 6-11) are $5, and youngsters ages 5 and under are free with Adult admission.

Fans can expect a great field of drivers from throughout the region competing in the event.

-Pits open at 5pm, Grandstands open at 6pm, Draw Cut off at 6:30pm sharp, Hot Laps at 7pm

-General Admission just $12 (ages 12 to 64)

-Kids (ages 6-11) just $5

-Ages 5 and under admitted free with Adult admission

-Active Military or Senior (Ages 65+): General Admission $10

-Upgrade any ticket to the Reserved Section for $5 per person

-All Pit Passes $30

-No outside food/drink coolers are allowed inside; a full selection of economically priced food concessions, including beer, are available

**4/12 update: THANK YOU to ALL POINTS SYSTEMS of Marshall Texas for their cash injection to the event purse.

The new payback is $1,300-800-600-500-310-250-200-160-140-120-100-80-80-60...to start. A revised event flyer has also been posted reflecting this change.

There are two additional sponsor announcements in the pipeline for this event...they will be published when they confirm details. Hopefully that will be by the end of today.

We would like to welcome Moore & Frink PLLC of Frankston TX and AT&T corporate for coming on board by sponsoring this event, in part, this Saturday night at LoneStar Speedway.

At this time, there will be an additional $200 in cash awards going to Limited Modified drivers beyond what has already been posted. $100 will go to the leader of the 13th lap in the feature race, while $50 each will go to the Hard Charger and Hard Luck recipients.

Plus there will be a ‘like and share’ Facebook promotion Saturday night at the track, which will reward participants in the crowd with the chance of winning several prizes, including a new LG Optimus Pro smartphone and case provided by AT&T.
