take back cover off and QC gears out. Will see 6 bolts, remove bolts, then heat up area some and you should be able to slip it out

I had to have mine pressed out and back in to a new case, access was achieved through rear plate removal and shimmed in the press to press out pinion gear races and bearings

As mentioned remove the 6 bolts holding the retaining ring. You generally need to get the housing to atleast 200-250* before it even thinks about coming out. DO NOT use a torch!! Place center section in front of a torpedo heater (about 2 feet away) and rotate it every 3-4 mins or so, until you can grab the pinion and pull it out, (about 10-20 mins depending on the heater and the temp. of the room you are working in) don't try to beat it out or press it, it will slide right out when ready, watch that you don't dump the jack shaft assembly out, as it will just fall out aswell.. Use an infrared temp gun to monitor the temp, and remember what it was when you were able to remove then pinion. Installation is the same way, heat untill you atleast reach the temp needed for removal, BESURE to install the nose bearing in the housing then drop the pinion in, install retaining ring and snug bolts up while it's cooling. When cool remove bolts, apply alittle MED strength loctite and torque to spec, then bend up a tab on the lock plates.

you need to heat it to 325 degrees minimum. I use a propane plumbers torch
