TALENTED TEENS SET TO BATTLE IN PERRIS LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR RACE!

(Placentia, CA, August 18, 2011) A bevy of talented teenagers are going to give fans a glimpse of racing's future when the California Lightning Sprint Cars Series returns to its home track, Perris Auto Speedway, this Saturday night, August 20th. Joining the CLS on the doubleheader program will be the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00.

Heading the list of the capable teens is 17-year-old Kevin Michnowicz of Lomita. In five main event starts in 2011, Michnowicz, who also races in the ASCS Southern California Region Sprint Car Series, has three wins. Not running the entire CLS schedule, Michnowicz is ranked 14th in points, one spot ahead of his father who leads the series with four wins.

Hemet's Alexander Bissett, who started racing Speedway Sprints at Victorville, is contesting his second full season in the CLS. Like Michnowicz, the 16-year-old charger has fared well against the mores seasoned competition and has been in the top five in points all season long. He currently sits comfortably ranked in fourth. Engine problems parked Bissett's familiar #35 at the last race and he drove the car owned by Zach Zauss.

Carlsbad's Jacob Will, who will not turn 16-until September 25th, is a two-time World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup National Points champion. Like Bissett, he is contesting his second full-season in the CLS and has had some mechanical ills of late. After sitting in the top four in points most of the year, he heads into Saturday's race in ninth.

Another teenage charger to keep an eye is 14-year-old Sheldon Creed of San Diego. He had a successful tour of the Midwest in July which was highlighted by a win and a third place finish in MMSA competition in Brownstown, Indiana. Saturday's race will be his third of the year at The PAS. He placed fourth at the season opener on March 12th and ended up third three after that. In addition to his prowess in CLS, Creed is a talented off road racer. Before Saturday night's race at The PAS, he will be in action in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Series at Glen Helen where he leads the points in the Modified Cart and Superlite classes.

Saturday's appearance at The PAS will be the final one for the CLS at the Riverside County half-mile clay oval until the 16th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals on November 4th and 5th.

The CLS will journey to the Santa Maria Speedway for the final time in 2011 on August 27th.
