CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS RETURN TO PERRIS THIS SATURDAY!
(Placentia, CA, May 23, 2011) The California Lightning Sprint Car Series will return to action this Saturday night, May 28th, at their home track Perris Auto Speedway. Joining the winged racing contingent for round six of their 2011 series will be the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, Senior Sprints and the VRA Vintage Cars. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race on the famed Riverside County clay oval will be at 7:00.

Wildomar veteran Tim Brown maintains the point lead as the series returns to The PAS on Saturday. However, his advantage in the standings was nearly sliced in half at the race in Santa Maria two weeks ago. Heading into that show, Brown held a 62-point cushion over Placentia's Dan Hillberg in the championship standings. Brown fought handling issues all night long on the one-third of a mile clay oval and ended up ninth in the main event while Hillberg placed fourth. For Brown, it was his first finish out of the top four in 2011 and Hillberg cut his lead down to 36-points.
Lomita's Kevin Michnowicz came back from a spin in the Santa Maria main event to post his fourth win in five CLS races in 2011. Last Saturday night, Michnowicz contested his first ever 360 Sprint Car race in the ASCS Southern California Regional Series at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford. The impressive 17-year-old finished 13th in the 18 car field.
Defending CLS champion Jarrett Kramer finally had some decent luck at Santa Maria when he out qualified the field and finished second to Michnowicz in the main event. The Spring Valley racer hopes to parlay that second place win into his initial win of 2011 this Saturday at The PAS. 15-year-old Jacob Will, driving a car owned by Kramer's brother Seth, was third at Santa Maria while Anaheim Hills veteran Guy Maresch was fifth.
After Saturday's race at The PAS, the CLS will make their first ever appearance at the Victorville Raceway Park on June 11th. The club will subsequently return to the High Desert oval on September 10th and October 29th.
