I'm not opposed to this board being used to sell but I didn't intend for it to become exclusively a barter board. Not upset or nothing but I still have to moderate it so it would be nice to read an occasional racing discussion. Just saying I'm out here doing all this web stuff, photography, writing stories and everything for nothing. I'm getting to a place where I'm thinking it might make sense to give up the whole mess and crawl back up in the stands. wink

Stan, the stands are overrated ... I have been in them far too long, and after a while you tend to realize just how long and drawn out most of the programs tend to get, and you grow very impatient, and tend to become overly critical of the whole deal ... besides, we still need you to take care of us for at least a little while yet ... the next couple years should be incredibly interesting, with all the new things going to be happening around here ...

Having said that , and in regards to the site becoming filled with classifieds (which I agree, is a good thing in this case, as it is to bring in new blood, and keep the old going by saving a few $$), on most of the classified type sites, it is very evident that our struggling times is really starting to catch up to the racing world ... between Hoseheads Classifieds, and Racing Junk, there are almost 400 ads for just sprint cars for sale, that doesn't include the Parts categories, or all the other bazillion types of race vehicles ... in fact there are 688 listings on RacingJunk for JUST THE LATEMODELS ... and the real evidence is in the number of ads placed by teams that have had enough, and looking for complete sellouts ... even on the Badger Midget, and IOW sites, there are some very longtime teams attempting to hang it up ...

Further evidence is also seen with long standing organizations/tracks starting to feel the crunch and realizing changes need to be made ... Badger is implementing a midget engine restriction package for this year (even moreso than USAC's) in their attempt to revitalize the low #'s and the crunch of losing AP as their home, and now I see that Perris Speedway is considering replacing their long standing 410's, with 360's for next year ... and we are also seeing even more of the 305 and other restrictive type programs popping up in an attempt to keep drivers in the game ... and we all see what is happening on the local modified scene, whether in vane or agreed with or not, they finally see the need to try to reduce costs to teams, and with opening the street stock body rule, trying to create new interest and to attract more fans ...

The best part of this entire dismal package, is that locally, under the guidance of some very creative, persistent, and ambitious folk, a type of racing that has struggled to survive, and at times even came close to dying ... has people excited again ... and in some peoples opinion it is a vision that could very well broaden to areas far exceeding our little corner of the country ... and, in all honesty, this will only happen because the folks like you, Greg P, Joe K, Ron B, and many, many other people that still see the need to live the sport that they love, and not crawl back up into the stands and turn it over to the 'business as usual' folk and accept what they force at us in the name of racing ... we dont need 3 classes of Hornets, in a 5-6 car program ...

A bit of a rant on my part perhaps, but you wanted racing talk ... and with Winter making its early appearance this year in a big way ... it sure beats shoveling more snow and grumbling over it ... thanks for the site ... tom h.

You touched on a lot of issues and we could write pages and pages on each of them. I appreciate the comments. wink

How did you get started in racing? I had a gokart on my front yard and a passerby who competed and "promoted" at the CedarMills Speedway stopped and invited us to their facility, that was over 25 years ago and tens of thousands of dollars later and would not change a thing! Except wish would have started sprint cars sooner! And been more thankful to all those that helped. A special thanks to Mike F. Jerry W. Alvie S. Craig S. Renee P. and every body at Cedar Mills. Kenny V. Brad V. Mike M. Davy P.@ the Engine Room. More to come Later!
