I'll be attending the next two UMSS races and was wondering about Arlington's end of season race on September 25th. I see that it starts at 1pm and their weekly shows usually start around 7 and are done by 11 so they last approximately four hours. Just wondering what time I can expect this end of season race to conclude. Would four hours or approximately 5pm be a good estimate or does this one take a little longer?

I was just wondering if it would be safe to schedule something else for that evening. It's 1 1/2 hours drive time home so I'm trying to find out if it's possible to get home and clean up and be somewhere else by 8pm that evening.

Thanks in advance, just need someone who has been to this race to give an average finishing time based on past experience. Need to give an answer if I can make it to something else that same evening.

Stan- the end of season race is the Extravanganza- It does start at 1PM- They will have Go-cart races &all of the regular classes-IMCA Sport Compacts-IMCA Hobbies-Outlaw Hobbies-IMCA Stock Cars-Imca Modifieds-Wissota Midwest Modifieds & the IMCA-UMSS Sprint car challenge. They will also have Figure 8 racing-Chain or Team races-Trailer Races-Plus Mechanics & Powder Puffs in some of the above classes- It will wind up with the demolition derbys which the demos are somewhat pending on car entrys. They usually wind up between 8:30 to 9:30 that evening. Bob mentioned last night that the IMCA-UMSS Sprint race will be for some extra money and also talked about calling it the "Dave Heskin" Memorial-not real sure of all the details on that- Hope this helps you- -See You At The Races! PS- Stan I forgot - there will also be an Auto Cross & Truck Auto Cross at the extravanganza- kind of a conglomeration of all events that have been held this year- plus now powder puffs & mechanics races added in. Anybody out there still want to enter something- Pre-registeration is HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!! Pat

I have to work at 8PM next Saturday and am in the same boat as Stan. If somebody SERIOUSLY knows what time sprint car racing will start and end I could head down. Thanks......

I would think they would wrap up the racing portion of the show before the novelty events. Trailer races and demo derbies tend to litter up the track with debris and be a hazard for the race cars. On account of that they usually have to run that stuff last so I'm guessing there would be ample time to make an exit after the Sprint Feature.

I take pictures in the infield and would be bored out of my mind sitting in the stands at any race no matter how long. It would be hard to go back to just sitting there without having something to keep me busy. I'm not much into spectating anymore. If I wasn't doing the racing media work I'd probably only go to a couple shows per season. Nothing against the racing, just been so involved in it for so many years that I'd rather sit in a boat than a grandstand if I was to go back to sitting.

Hopefully they won't shackle me down with chains and I'll be able to make my exit when the racing is done. Unless the novelty stuff looks like it's going to be funnt maybe I'll stick around for some of that as well. Nothing against anybody's type of racing or the novelty shows, I've just got some things going.
