OCRS SET FOR HAROLD LEEP JR. MEMORIAL

TULSA, OKLAHOMA (MAY 10, 2010)

After playing outlaws and cowboys at Wild West Speedway in Clinton, Oklahoma last Saturday night, the sprint cars of the Oil Capital Racing Series take on a more serious tone for the second annual "Harold Leep Jr. Memorial" race. As with last season, the event will take place in Ada, Oklahoma at the 4/10 mile Oklahoma Sports Park. The event date is this Saturday night, May 15th. Frank Dittman of Moore, Oklahoma was victorious in the inaugural running of this memorial to honor a special racer. Leep Jr. was such a true friend to many and is the son of the very prominent and successful racer, Harold Leep Sr. Leep Jr. left us for the prosperous race track in the sky on May 30, 2008.

Other drivers looking to place their name on this special event trophy will be new series point leader Rafe "The Flying Farmer" Essary of Stillwell, Oklahoma. Essary took over the points lead after last Saturday's event with a fourth place finish and leads the championship points battle by only 1 marker over the 2009 champion driver, Jamie Passmore of Rose, Oklahoma. Mike Goodman of Tulsa toppled to third in the standings after having had the point lead going into last weekend. A mishap in the main event caused Goodman to finish dead last and loose valuable points. Even with his problems, Goodman is only 23 points behind in attempting to regain the top spot. His teammate, Travis Jenkins of Broken Arrow is only 8 markers behind him and lurking. Rounding out the top 5 in OCRS points is 17-year-old Shayla Waddell of Oklahoma City. Miss Waddell has surprised some, but not all, with the early season consistency that has her in the hunt for the points chase with her more experienced counterparts.

The last time OCRS sped around OSP was for the 3rd annual Oklahoma State Championship race last September. In that event, OKC's Andy Shouse took an exciting win by a mere nose over Norman's Danny Jennings. Shouse is expected to be in action in the Butch Roberts number 36 machine this weekend. Dittman will be back to defend his "Leep Memorial" throne against Shouse and the other challengers that dare to knock him off in his familiar #83 sprinter.
