Somebody commented about how unnecessary it is for Eldora to have 4 days of racing and I have to totally agree.  I certainly enjoyed watching last night, although I kept wondering why there werent more cars there (PA guys etc). I guess with Kings Royal being the 2nd biggest payout and race on the Sprint Car schedule anywhere I thought it would attract so many more All Stars, PA guys, and others that are looking to race in the Ohio, PA and Iowa area for the end of July into the beginning of August.

So...the 4 nights.  Totally not needed.  Especially if you are doing 4 unique shows.  The cool thing about Knoxville is the format.  The qualifying leading up to the culmination that is Saturday night.  It made me even more upset for that Brad Doty Classic that is talked about on other threads.  Just as well as had his rainout make up Wednesday and then go onto 3 nights of racing at Eldora.  3 is a good show.  Jackson Nationals take note.  3 nights is and should be max nights for WoO in one place during the summer months. 4 nights should be strictly reserved for Knoxville Nationals. Unless Jackson has a non 410 night as part of their "Nationals" next year, 4 nights is out of line there too IMO.

Anyway.  Cant wait to watch tonight.  Anyone think more cars will come? Just curious.  Or is it a rerun of last night?

I was there last night as well. I didn't think 42 cars was a great number but I expect more to show in the coming days. I'm sure some are wanting to save their equipment for the Kings Royal.

I'm more concerned with the track conditions after that many days of racing. Sure, Knoxville does a good job but I've been to Eldora on night "two's" and it takes rubber. I just cant imagine what it will be like by night 4 with the extreme heat. That being said, I hope it turns out great and everyone gets to see a good show. I'll be watching from the A/C Smile

Yeah, I would expect a significant bump in entries for the regularly scheduled KR first night compared to a Wednesday night reacheduled race.

Honestly getting a little annoyed at the whinning over WoO trying to make up one of the many rain outs from this year. Sucks in the end they still end up down a race, but I’m sure the teams are happy they get some of those races back.

There will definitely be bump in cars as we get towards the weekend. Balog, Swindell, and Thiel all will be added tonight. Dale Blaney will be coming sometime this week. I’d imagine there’s a few locals that’ll race the weekend that can’t afford to do all 4 nights

Sorry, but not totally understanding your post.  You said you watched the race last night, will watch tonight, and I assume ( big assumption) that you will watch Friday and Saturday, but yet you question why they are at Eldora for 4 nights?  What makes 3 nights in a row at the same track a good show and 4 not a good show?  Just curious.  I understand about taking away the Doty Race raindate and that point of view, but I am sure the drivers all love the opportunity to race 4 nights in one spot without having travel and making accomodations for different tracks.

Yes, I believe there will be more cars on Saturday and for the exact reason you state.....saving their equipment for the big money.  You will probably see a couple more tonight, a few more tomorrow night and then 55+ on Saturday.

There is nothing unique about the 4 nights.  That is, it is just 4 nights 4 seperate shows, right? Its not like they qualify for the Kings Royal on Friday some how.  Does a track need 4 nights?  Just seems like that should be reserved for Knoxville and how they structure it.  I get drivers and fans may like it.....so then to counter your point, why stop at 4?  Why not make Eldora a 6 night show.  Start on Monday with Monday Night Madness.  Two-fer Tuesday (double features). Wacky Wednesday where they have to draw the car and team they drive for that night out of a hat.

Seems kinda stupid to me too. 4 nights(or even 3) at 1 track should mean that you have a large enough car count to neccessitate a split field format. Otherwise I don't get it, just seems like a strung out watered down event.... but OTOH it's 4 nights of sprint car racing so I guess that's not a bad thing for the teams and fans that can afford it. Of course if 1 of those nights was at a racy bullring with weekly regular 410's, that would have been a whole lot better.

I agree with you all, I hate racing and wish there were less of it.

Really dumb thread this one.

54 cars tonight.

I am here in Rossburg.  Great feature tonight.  Really fast track all night long.  But I have been told you can't have a great feature when it is more wet.  All I have to say about tonight's racing...... AWESOME!!!!!

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Spot on, Ted absolutely hated them as they often put on a better show (closer racing, more passing) than his big dogs.  For a few years back a couple of decades ago this was definitely the case.....

unnecessary to have 4 days of racing.........................................that's like telling your wife "I don't think having sex 4 straight days is necessary" or, "just give me one beer-----4 isn't necessary" or "you want to give me a $4 dollar/hour raise?......only $! is necessary" or "you want to go fishing for 4 days, only......................"..........you get the point

I think when you typed, "I get drivers and fans may like it," should have answered everything.

Meaning drivers get 4 nights of racing, fans get to watch 4 nights of racing, fans spend money for 4 nights of racing, track & series makes money on 4 nights of racing, a big event gets bigger, everyone seems to win. Well not everyone because it seems some have to over analyze everything and find ways to spin a good thing into a bad thing.

Not everything has to be a special format. The race itself is a special format. Especially now with a good point race going on with the 49 & 15, you get 3 point races towards the championship then a special race.
