I haven't been to Cedar Lake for nearly twenty years but am considering taking a newbie up there this weekend. What are the track conditions likely to be like in the heat that is forecast? I took three newbies to Deer Creek last year in the same conditions and it was really dirty and dusty despite the efforts of the track staff. It wasn't as good an experience for the newbies as it could have been. The last time I went to Cedar Lake was a WoO race on a very hot day and it was pretty dusty then too. I can take a little dirt myself but I'd like to have this first-timer enjoy the show. What do those who go to Cedar Lake recommend? Go or wait for cooler weather?

Keep an eye on the wind direction before deciding on either sitting on the front stretch or back stretch grandstands that way you won't have the wind/dust blowing in your face.

Dust can be a problem everywhere in this hot weather we've been having lately. I presume you're going to a weekly show that include the UMSS Traditional Sprints and that shouldn't be too bad because weekly shows have smaller (but still decent) fields in all classes than a typical special. As the sun gets lower and they mist the track between races ithey typically can get ahead of the dust.
I was out there during the Masters where they had 52 More, 36 Late Models and 17 Limited Lates and the track was good all night without anything but misting between races. I would bring your friend, no need to arrive early for weekly shows so as to avoid some of the heat. Avoiding dust vs staying in a shaded section might present a bit if a conflict depending on wind direction but you can always move to a better spot later.
Go for it.
