Eldora moved the start time up for tomorrows All Star Speedweek race, anticpating rain moving in later in the evening. Second time they've done that this year. I think Lincoln did it a few weeks ago too. Atomic as well I believe.

I really like that tracks are doing this. I hope this a trend for the future.

We all get bummed sometimes about car counts, track conditions, etc., but let's be honest, this is a great time to be a sprint car fan. Tracks are improving their facilities, car counts are healthy for the most part, and the racing has been great this year. We are all blessed!

I agree.  I am making the 4-1/2 hour trip to Knoxville this afternoon.  I see rain in the forecast late tonight and late tomorrow afternoon.  I'm hoping they make the adjustments needed to get the shows in.

Hope they continue to do this in the future too with rain threatening. It makes sense to do and really easy to do especially 48hrs in advance. By that time the forecast is pretty solid, and with the use of social media, internet, email, and other media the word can get out about the schedule change. A majority of fans are going to check weather reports and if rain is threatening they will check the website for announcements along with social media. Only down side is there might be some fans with prior commitments that aren't able to make it because it is now moved it. Case in point, ME in this specific case. Unfortunately I have a funeral to attend that day and probably won't get out till around 5pm. Was planning on leaving right after and get there before the heats but now I would probably miss all the heats. No worries though, if they kept the normal schedule then no one would probably be able to see a race and the track wouldn't make anything or the drivers. I just adjusted my schedule to go to Attica tonight instead then will watch Knoxville on Dirtvision.

It is a good time to be a fan. 2-3 streaming options to watch racing, here in Ohio we have a good set of tracks with good car counts, the racing in general has been great from what I have seen. Just need the R word to go away. I'm ready for a drought the next couple of months

I think Knoxville will be fine tonight. There's going to be some rain showers around noon but hopefully clear after that. I also agree it seems that dirt track racing is doing well right now at least for sprints.

I'm not completely against changing the start times however with how unpredicable weather is I don't think this can be done with teams pulling 6+ hours to get to a track. Yes if you give them enough time that's likely work but we're talking about 1 hour earlier start time?

I'm guessing, ONLY guessing, that both Lincoln and the Ohio area has a higher population density and that teams and fans on average do not drive as far as Knoxville.

The forecast has been terrible and come Saturday nothing happens, and vice versa.

Can everyone that makes the track run smoothly, like Knoxville commit to doing this? Track prep, push trucks, ticket sales, concessions, video streaming, fans and drivers?

IMO you would end up losing a few cars, fans, and affect long term attendance numbers.

I think the only way this works is if most fans, track personnel, and teams are already on site like the Nationals.

Definitely risk both ways. As posted above 1 guy has to miss it tonight but the other 4000 get to attend. Points and cash awarded and life goes on.

Biggest fear is people who are travelling distance on thin room for error or delay in travel having to make up a couple hours is difficult.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

The alternative is the track stays on the original start time and either gets half a show in, or rained out completely, and those people who traveled great distances are stuck with a rain check or no racing at all.

Another plus of flexing is it gets the message across to the teams that the show will move fast and to be on their toes.

I totally agree on everything. Well stated.
