Sprint Car Bandits DARE TO BE DIFFERENT Tour Kicks Off at Heart O’ Texas – 3/22/19

Elm Mott, TX (03/06/19) by DarinShort.com. The 360C.I. NCRA Sprint Car Bandits (SCB) series kicks off the 2019 ‘DARE TO BE DIFFERENT’ Tour at the 1/4 mile 'bullring' oval of Heart O' Texas Speedway (HOT) in Waco on Friday, March 22nd with the running of the Gene Adamcik Memorial. Gene promoted racing at HOT for 32 years before passing away in 2016.

:30 HOT REWIND: The last time the Sprint Car Bandits were at Heart O’ Texas Speedway on a hotter-than-HOT August 2018 night, Selby Holder and the track crew had the track in stellar racing condition, producing top-notch racing action. 5th place starter and veteran sprint driver Claud “The Ambassador” Estes III tracked down race-long leader (and nephew) Colby Estes and snuck by him with just a few laps to go and claim the win – much to the support of the large pro-Estes HOT grandstand crowd. 4th place starter Jason Howell would come home in 2nd place while Colby finished in 3rd.

RACE FANS: Make plans to arrive early at the track to take in the pre-race Sprint Car Bandits “Fierce 15” Fan Fest! It will take place directly next to the main ticket window from 6:30pm until about 7:15pm. There, you can meet the drivers of the Fierce 15, get selfies, purchase their 2019 t-shirt designs (get them autographed!) and get a good close look at the cars. SCB Fan Fest is an effort to help sprint car racing get back to the good ‘ol days when there was generally more fan interaction with the race teams. Back then it was common for most of the fans to go to the pits after the races to meet with the teams, and now in many cases the races at tracks don’t finish in time to make that feasible. This is an effort to fire back up that interaction by simply flipping the timing element. Pre-race Fan Fest will take place at every SCB series event in 2019.

If you’d like to get your brand new Fierce 15 driver t-shirts prior to Fan Fest, the new online store at www.SprintCarBandits.com will have them for sale starting this Friday, March 8th. Reminder, that proceeds from Fierce 15 driver apparel benefits each individual driver that is a part of the program, so please show your support by grabbing one when you can...and your support will help drivers better funded throughout the season.

The following drivers make up the 2019 Sprint Car Bandits Fierce 15 and will be competing for added money for their support of the series: Colby Estes, Michael Day, Claud Estes III, Dalton Stevens, Scott Evans, Chance McCrary, Dale Wester, Junior Jenkins, Cody Hall, Josh Hawkins, Casey Burkham, Steve McMackin, Will Eggimann, Mark Zoeller and Mark Huddleston. Fans can expect to see these drivers competing in 2019 Sprint Car Bandits series events, along with any eligible sprint car driver that chooses to on a night-to-night basis, just as in previous seasons. Drivers interested in the Sprint Car Bandits Fierce 15 program can contact [email protected] for additional information.

For Heart O' Texas Speedway information, please click www.HeartOTexasSpeedway.com and note their address is 784 N McLennan Drive Waco, TX 76640 (just north of town right off of I-35); track phone is 254-829-2294. Action fires up at 8pm on March 22nd.

RACE TEAMS: all sprint car teams that sign in will draw for heat race starting positions, regardless of their engine C.I. displacement (up to and including 360C.I.) and will receive passing points to determine their straight-up from points feature race starting position. All drivers make sure to read the posted rules at the series website prior to heading to the track.

The standard posted SCB purse and rules are in effect. All non-qualifiers or non-starters will each receive $100. There is no entry fee, no series membership fee and a $20 nightly draw fee. Drivers should go to www.SprintCarBandits.com prior to arrival for complete rules, purse and procedures information.

Fred Summers will also reward four lucky SCB drivers with the www.FixYourGenerator.com Cash ‘Fix’ Bonus in the drivers meeting with (4) $50 cash awards. Drivers signing in before the drivers meeting will have their names entered in the drawing, and four will be pulled out at the conclusion of the drivers meeting. (Must be at drivers meeting to win.) Thanks to Fred for his long-term support of the SCB series!

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT: Why are we calling this season the ‘DARE TO BE DIFFERENT’ tour? The SCB series has a unique rules package that allows teams to use their current equipment (especially in the engine compartment) yet curbing nightly tire expense...which helps equalize the competition with teams of varying budget sizes. The SCB “20° wing angle rule” also helps by freeing up the cars to be able to pass easier in many cases that also helps reduce excess tire and engine wear. Our ‘one rear tire all night long’ rule has not only saved racers thousands of dollars over the past three years, but to date, we’ve yet to have one tire fail (blow) due to excess tire wear in any feature race we’ve held.

All these small, yet effective changes, have been accomplished without the racers having to purchase something out of the ordinary. And we essentially haven’t changed the rules since the inception of the series at the end of 2015.

And let’s face it, since the events of 9/11/2001, a lot of the economics of the sport of dirt track racing have changed drastically (especially the cost of travel, track insurance, general crowd sizes, cost of racing components), yet there really hasn’t been much being done on a nationwide level to help counteract those economic impacts. We aren’t trying to say we’ve ‘fixed’ all those impacts, but at least we are doing something to help curb racer expenses – and it’s working.

Our rules package certainly has made for exciting and unpredictable racing outcomes – as there were 13 different feature winners in 16 SCB events in 2018. When you add these components together, that’s a result of why we DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!

Click www.SprintCarBandits.com for the latest in series news and where the DARE TO BE DIFFERENT Tour is headed to next. You can also reach the SCB on Facebook, at www.Facebook.com/SprintCarBandits .

If your business is interested in getting involved with the SCB series, please email [email protected] for more information. There are effective programs available for all sizes of budgets.

We would like to thank last season’s sponsors of the Sprint Car Bandits series: Rodd Hanna's Air Performance, A&M Glass Service, Palm Harbor Homes, Kustom Craft Exhibits, Gen-Tech at FixYourGenerator.com, Mow Time in Farmersville, RockAuto.com, Pro-Tech Service Co., Scott Baylor Racing Engines, American Elevator Technologies, South Dallas Battery & Electric Co., Gary Floyd Homes, Utility Trailer of Dallas, Inc., DFW Urethane, Valvoline Express Care of Seagoville, www.DarinShort.com , www.ShopTheBOSS.com and the SCB points fund is sponsored by Smiley’s Racing Products & Hoosier Tire Southwest.

Here's the RacinBoys video highlights from the Sprint Car Bandits feature race from HOT Speedway on Friday night.

Thanks to Jeff and Joli for taking the time to grab our event footage!

Join us for live action at KENNEDALE SPEEDWAY PARK this coming Saturday, as the Sprint Car Bandits bring the DARE TO BE DIFFERENT Tour to its second stop of the season.

And let's see if the 'new winner' trend continues, as we've already had one first-ever series winner in 2019 on the night of the series (Marcus Thomas), which makes 14 different winners in the past 17 Sprint Car Bandits events!

Visit www.SprintCarBandits.com and our Facebook page for all of the event details.
=============
THANK YOU to the great HOT Speedway fans and to the 30 Sprint Car Bandits teams that supported the series opener on Friday night, March 22nd under beautiful, dry weather conditions.

A stout and loaded field of top-flight sprint car teams assembled for three 10-car, 10-lap heat races that had lots of passing an excitement with the "no more cones" rules of the Sprint Car Bandits.

Late arrival Jeb Sessums (it's Friday night and hard for the working racers of the series to all get there early) would become the high points driver and pole sitter for the feature after earning every single point he garnered from his 10h place heat race starting position. Jeb would claw his way through the field finishing second to Channin Tankersley.

The Sprint Car Bandits do not redraw for feature race starting position, as these guys earn every point they get in their heats, and they've all earned their starting spots.

And history has shown, a front row starting position in the Sprint Car Bandits series rarely leads to a win.

Such was the case in this particular feature race.

The feature race fired off with a wide, slick racing surface that allowed two and three wide racing all around the 1/4 mile banked dirt oval.

The battle up front was literally up for grabs with four drivers contending for the lead - with no apparent driver having an advantage.

About 5 laps in the track quickly began to transition and you could clearly see a wide swath of rubber was being laid down on the track, which lead to dizzying lap speeds in the 12-second bracket.

The developing 'skid-flippy' track conditions then led to highly unpredictable reactions of the cars. The speeds were so high that when a driver would catch a quickly narrowing patch of ‘dry slick’ conditions, it would really upset their car leading to extreme snowplow or loose conditions.

Such was the case with a incredibly quick Channin Tankersley. After a short yellow and tires cooling off a tick, the race resumed with a torrid battle up front, then disaster struck.

When the field entered the apex of corners one and two, without any prior notice, suddenly Channin’s car lost all traction and snap-spun directly in front of 14 more hard charging sprint cars.

Instantaneous evasive action was taken by several drivers to miss the ensuing fracas, and Michael Day had the front row seat to the situation, and he somehow jolted the car out of the path of Channin without touching him, only to find the concrete wall right in his immediate future.

Day would pound the concrete hard with the bulk of the impact being absorbed by the chassis, however it left him with a bell-ringer.

As a precaution, Michael was taken to the hospital, where was checked out and everything came back good. Michael commented that he’s going to be sore for a few days, but he feels everything will be ok.

So, we’re all thankful to hear that news. Prior to the incident, Michael was blazing through the field from his 20th place starting position and had commented what a rocket ship his car was.

After the incident, the race resumed with the skid-flippy conditions prevailing, continuing the wild and unpredictable car reactions (see video from Don Cook https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aYPiD1woB0 ).

Third place Marcus Thomas would make a power move around pole setter Jeb Sessums and would lead the final round of laps, and picking up his first-ever Sprint Car Bandits series win!

Remarkably, it was less than a year ago when Marcus would receive what could have been a career ending injury at a sprint event in Louisiana; but after a long recovery period, this win marked an exclamation point on his recovery, that being, Marcus Thomas is BACK!

An emotional Marcus Thomas reflected in victory lane about his long road to recovery and how much it meant for him to be standing in victory lane once again.

Wow, what a night!

Several drivers advanced a multitude of positions in the feature event, including 3rd place finisher Chad Wilson who started in 13th. Other big movers in the feature included 19th place starter Justin Fifield who came home in 5th, and Josh Hawkins finishing in 7th after taking the green from his 18th place starting spot.

Please enjoy the swath of pictures from the evening, which started out with a spectacularly popular pre-race SCB Fan Fest. Throngs of fans got to the track an hour early just to take part in it, and the line at the SCB t-shirt stand was solid the duration of the event. Thanks again to the teams and fans for making the time for this interactive pre-race event to take place. We will have the SCB Fan Fest at every event on the 2019 DARE TO BE DIFFERENT Tour.

And a special thanks to Fred Summers at FixYourGenerator.com for putting up $200 in the Cash ‘Fix’ Bonus held during the drivers meeting. Attached to this post is a picture of the winners, along with Fred Summers and flagman Kevin Fry.

NEXT UP for the series will be next Saturday, March 30th at the ¼ mile dirt oval of Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas. Last year, a huge crowd came to witness the first-ever SCB tour stop and local favorite Jeb Sessums earned his first-ever SCB feature win.

DON’T MISS our pre-race Fan Fest at KSP, which is set for 5:30pm-6pm, with racing starting early, at 7pm.

Here’s the complete KSP event details, ICYMI:

KSP’s ONLY 360C.I. SPRINT EVENT of 2019 is SATURDAY, MARCH 30th – DON’T MISS IT!

Kennedale, TX (03/14/19) by DarinShort.com. The stars will align over Kennedale Speedway Park on Saturday March 30th, when the 360 C.I. NCRA Sprint Car Bandits (SCB) series ‘DARE TO BE DIFFERENT’ Tour will electrify the ¼ mile speed plant for the only time in 2019, with the running of the Sprint Car Bandits Spring Championship.

Track Promoter Tony Dycus comments: “Last year the NCRA Sprint Car Bandits series brought a great group of cars to Kennedale Speedway Park, with a huge crowd attending the event. The weather was extreme that night with temps around 105° with a lot of wind, so we decided this year to move the show to March 30th, which should make for an excellent racing environment for all. And we’re holding the line on ticket pricing. Adults can get in to see this event for just $16 so more families can afford to take it in!”

Pit Gates open at 4pm on race day, Saturday March 30th, with racing at 7pm. Grandstands open at 5pm. KSP divisions will round out the very full night of racing, including IMCA Modifieds, SportMods, Stock Cars & Sport Compact divisions; plus the Factory Stocks. The SCB are slated to run 2nd or 3rd division out for the feature event.

RACE FANS: Make plans to arrive early at the track to take in the pre-race Sprint Car Bandits “Fierce 15” Fan Fest! It will take place directly next to the main ticket window from 5:30pm until just after 6pm.

If you’d like to get your brand new Fierce 15 driver t-shirts prior to Fan Fest, the new online store at www.SprintCarBandits.com has them for sale right now. Proceeds from Fierce 15 driver apparel benefits each individual driver that is a part of the program, so please show your support by grabbing one when you can...and your support will help drivers better funded throughout the season.

Fans can expect to see these drivers competing in 2019 Sprint Car Bandits series events, along with any eligible sprint car driver that chooses to race with the series on a night-to-night basis – as was the case in previous seasons. Drivers interested in the Sprint Car Bandits Fierce 15 program can contact [email protected] for additional information.

Kennedale Speedway Park (KSP) is located at 6727 Hudson Village Creek Kennedale, TX 76060. Click www.raceKSP.com for complete track details. You can email [email protected] or Track Promoter Tony Dycus at [email protected] if you need additional information. By searching ‘Kennedale Speedway Park’ on Facebook, you can check out the very latest in track updates, pictures and much more.

SPRINT CAR TEAMS: Standard SCB posted rules are in effect. Eligible sprint car teams of 360C.I. or lower not familiar with SCB series rules or structures should go to www.SprintCarBandits.com prior to arrival for complete rules and procedures information, so their car is ready for action when they arrive at the track on race day. Eligibility rules are also posted on the rules page, contact the series with any questions. No entry fee or series membership fee is required; just a $20 draw-in fee. Draw-in will start at 5pm with the drivers meeting at 5:10pm, then it’s off to Fan Fest which starts at 5:30pm.

All sprint car teams that sign in will draw for heat race starting positions, regardless of their engine C.I. displacement (up to and including 360C.I.) and will receive passing points to determine their straight-up from points feature race starting position. All drivers make sure to read the posted rules at the series website prior to heading to the track.

The standard posted SCB purse and rules are in effect. All non-qualifiers or non-starters will each receive $100. There is no entry fee, no series membership fee and a $20 nightly draw fee. Drivers must go to www.SprintCarBandits.com prior to arrival for complete rules, purse and procedures information.

This is also scheduled to be the second event of the www.SmileysRacing.com 4 Pack Bonus that awards the SCB Fierce 15 teams with added bonus money, paid out for their support of the Series in increments of each ‘4 Pack’ of SCB events completed throughout the season. More details are posted at the series website.

Our ‘one rear tire all night long’ rule has not only saved racers thousands of dollars over the past three years, and to date, we’ve yet to have one tire fail (blow) due to excess tire wear in any feature race we’ve held.

We aren’t trying to say we’ve ‘fixed’ all those impacts, but at least we are doing something to help make sprint car racing more sustainable – and it’s working.

You can also check out www.Facebook.com/SprintCarBandits to interact with the Series or its drivers.
