Not a NASCAR fan ,but hey on a rainy Monday why not. Does NBC not realize we can see the race?Do we really need play by play at every corner, especially with 3 guys Letarte,Burton and Dale jr. whose voices sound like Mickey Mouse on speed! I usually only turn sound down ,but today it's OFF . Maybe im getting old.

Burton and Letarte are brutal. I don’t think I’ve heard enough of Earnhardt Jr to judge for myself.

The Waltrips are even worse. Everything is so homogenized and fake. Probably not why the ratings are in the tank but it doesn’t help.

I think you are a little to critical.  Many years ago people bitched about NFL announcers.  They tried no announcers for 1 game, all you heard was crowd noise and what ever words were to crowd by PA.  This was terrible, I watched it.  Your NASCAR announcers do OK.

The Xfinity race was hilarious.  They spent the last 10 laps trying to one up each other as to who was fastest, who would make a move first and when, who would win, how exciting it was going to be, etc, etc.  Consequently none of the top 5 positons changed at all.   It was simply follow the leader to the finish.   lol.

Ken Squier will always be the greatest NASCAR announcer of all time.  That said, I love Jeff Gordon.  He catches things during the races that the other guys miss, he's not annoying, and I think he adds great insight.  Dale Jr. is a distant second but still better than all of the others.

Watching a race with Gordon commentatiing to like a football game with Tony Romo.  I find Romo's announcing extremely entertaining watching him call out the plays and reads before they happen.  He and Jim Nance are crazy good and doing the Super Bowl this year.

I just heard announcers yesterday, nothing better for worse than any other announcer.  I watch sports with the sound turned down low and surf with the laptop until something exciting happens.  One thing I gotta say is that it felt good being able to watch a rained out race on a Monday.  This retirement gig I started.at the end of July is pretty cool.  I'll put up with announcers any week day.  wink

It's tough to watch and even tougher to listen to.  A couple of events have gotten their swagger back.  Bristol night race has been good lately for example.  But the announcers are still a big sticking point to turning on the race and watching it through the entire broadcast.  Michael Waltrip walking up and down pit road with that camera on asking stupid questions while drivers look at him like he is the biggest moron in the world (which he is) pretty much sums up all of their coverage.

The most entertaining way to watch a Nascar race?  At a sports bar on Saturday night, with 20 other TV's loaded with College Football or another sport.  No volume.  Just check the ticker every once in a while.

I absolutely agree on all points. It pains me to say Romo is good as an analyst because I'm an Eagles fan, but he's good. He does get a little too wound up sometimes.

Although on the NASCAR front, I used to like Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons on ESPN. No muss, no fuss.

For the most part, I have two reasons to watch, and how much depends on how they're doing, what track, what lap; Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell.

Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Absolutely.  Couldn't care less about a battle between anyone else in the field.

Don't forget about Ryan Blaney.  He may not race Sprint Cars but he has a fondness for them for obvious reasons.  He attends Sprint races often and has hot lapped Dave's car.  Son of a WoO and Knoxville champion and his father owns a dirt track.

I only watch highlights after the race is over now. Just lost interest spending 3 hours a day watching something that was non competitive. When I was watching it, I had the TV on mute and have MRN on the radio since their announcers were typically better than Fox or NBC.

I started watching some older Nascar races from the 90's on YouTube. It is like night and day the conpetition level from then till now. Last night I was watching the 92 coke 600 and for the first 100laps you had 3-4 cars battling for the lead nose to tail, and about 6-7 guys battling for a spot. From what I have noticed the racing was just more competitive back vs today, and the announcing was a lot better than today

If it was up to Me, I'd get rid of bestwick and both of the waltrips!

I bet Jack Miller would have been fun to listen do a napcar race.
