TEAM SEXTON/GATLIN RACING BACK IN ACTION AT THE BAKERSFIELD SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY!
(Lakeside, CA, September 6, 2018) The Sexton/Gatlin Racing team will be back in action this Saturday night, September 8th, when the USAC/California Lightning Sprint Cars race at the Bakersfield Speedway for the third time in 2018.
After the season opener was rained out at the 1/3 of a mile-high banked clay oval in March, the Lakeside California based Sexton’s have been on the Kern County track two times. Father Brent has recorded the best results in the family in the two outings with sixth and seventh place finishes. Oldest son Dalton has brought home a ninth and a 21st and his younger sibling, Grant, has a 12th and an 18th.
Saturday’s race will be the 12th of 18 in the series this year. Going into it, 46-year-old Brent, who spent part of this week fishing off the California coast, is third in the championship standings. However, he is only four points out of the second-place spot. Grant is up to ninth in the standings and still leads the “Rookie of the Year” chase. Dalton is second to his brother in the “Rookie” standings and is 12th overall in the USAC/CLS Series.
After Saturday’s outing at the “Okie Bowl,” there will be six races to go in the season. The next two will be the final rounds of the “Civil War” Series matching the CLS vs the BCRA at the Placerville Speedway on September 21st and 22nd.
