And he did it with ease....one of the most dominating performances I've seen especially when you consider the quality of drivers/teams in the field. Also, hats off to Lucas Wolfe...P21 to P4. He had Zerfoss for 3rd for a short time with a couple of laps to go. What a run again when you consider the quality drivers he passed to get there.

Yeah, but that 16 race motor was built by the one, and only, Davey Brown.
How many 50 wins does Davey Brown have?

In an interview last summer Lance said they were experimenting with air filters. The goal was to get more races out of an engine before it needed rebuilt. It sounds like they learned something.

Most dominating experience since Kreitz lapped almost the whole field back in the early 2000's. To do that against that field of cars was really remarkable. Amazing run by Lucas. If they had a caution Lucas might have been able to give Lance a run. Great job by the speedway for an amazing event. What a turnout.

Oh what you don't think of until immediately after hitting 'send'...
By the time I got my foot out of the keyboard it was too late to edit my post. Skip the "one , and only" part- just go with 'Davey Brown'.
Can you imagine what Jr. would have accomplished? Most unfortunely, that's all you can do is imagine. Damn shame

What I said in the previous thread: "Every time I go to Port, DeWease wins....planning on going, God willin' & the creek don't rise"
Couldn't believe the crowd! I got there by 1:30 & the line for tix was already huge. By 2:30 it was out in the street. Can't imagine that the people in the middle of infield could see anything....
& it was cold!
Dream Team has Port WIRED!
Glad I took the back road from Carlisle, Rt. 74, absolutely gorgeous scenery, ideal road for a sports car road race, especially aptly named Wagoner's Gap. I parked at the top & walked to the boulder field on the ridge. Beautiful view on both sides, probably a dozen bird watchers with high power telescopes looking at hawks & eagles (all i could see were "some kind of birds" WAY up in the sky....)
& I was listening to the perfect country CD, Louisiana's Courtney Grainger....check him out

Also, I got really lucky. Waiting in line for tix 45 minutes, a guy comes up & asks if anyone wants to buy a reserved seat.... everyone stared at him & I jumped on it...duh. Great seat!

Two complaints I have
1. They need to finish it up quicker. Midnight is way too late to be finishing up. I realize it was the biggest field they've ever had there, but gotta work on that.
2. Not sure why they had the issue with the reserved ticket deal but for those of us that travel a distance (2.5 hours to Port one way for me) that kinda sucked.

Got real lucky and went to the track office to check on the reserved situation at around 3:15 and they were selling GA admission tickest with a short line. Was able to get in and get some 3rd frow seats while the rest of my party was waiting in 1 of the extremely long ticket lines. Crowd was unreal. The 69k was just able to go anywhere on the track - low, middle, high without skipping a beat. That car is really hooked up at Port Royal. Ryan Smith was really good too. He went unchallenged for 2nd the last 40 laps and kept Dewease within a straight the last segment. Racing from 3rd on back was incredible, Lucas on fire the 2nd segment, back and forth battle between the 24 and 3z for 3rd the last 5 laps was the best of the night.

I was actually pretty pleased that the feature was finished at midnight. I've been to many T-50's with a LOT less cars that finished later. 2 non-stop 25 lap segments sure helped, props to the drivers for that. 1 thing they can and should do is multi-car time trialing when yiou have that many cars. Should be easily doable with transponders. Nobody wants to sit through an hour and a half of time trials. When you invert the top 4 and then line up the feature by heat finish, what the hell is the point? I guess you need to try to time 7-12 in your segment instead of 1-6. That's just stupid. Every heat was won off the front row. Nonetheless...great show last night. Incredible field and crowd.

If you have that many sprints showing up then having a support division doesn't help either.
As for each heat being won from the front, not sure how you fix that at any 1/2 mile track with only 10-12 in the heat.

First of all, props to Port for taking the chance and good to see them being rewarded.
The format needs work and it's a bush league move having street stocks at your biggest event, but that doesn't overshadow the event at all.

First Lance,Donny, Davey congratulations. Awesome job this weekend. A few observations for this race and possible improvements.
Too many cars for 2 lap time trials. Alot of wasted time. Find a better way if needed. Transponders do work. This increased the time of the show by alot.
No need for support division on these large shows lost time waiting for third heat of econos Saturday. Why were they not lined up and ready to go.
We know most of the drivers and you really cant see them anyway. No need for all the fanfare of group photo and intros. We were ready for the, race kids were getting tired and restless and it was cold.
Work on dust factor.
Great food as always. Great entertainment. Wonderful field of cars and drivers. Love to come but remember many do not live in mofflintown or port royal. Run efficient show.
Thanks for allowing me to share my toughts and opinions.

Thought it was a great event, super atmosphere and incredible field of cars from all across the country. Hi-lites included the 69k on a kick ass mission, Wolfe's charge from P22 to 4th in a hi quality field, and Reitzel's commentary on his encounter with Sammy. Surprised no Ohio guys showed up other than All-star regulars. Nice to see Brown, Madsen,Bacon,Saldana, Reitzel and others make the tow east.
Agree that group time trials would have time. Don't think support series increased time too much. Heats ( 2nd and 3rd anyway) were run during what probably would have been down time anyway. Would prefer super late models vs econo lates though.
I was in the infield so the small amount of dust was no issue. If you think it was dusty last night, you must never have been to Eldora.
My only suggestion would be to increase the purse ( if doable financially) throughout the field. They could draw 80 cars.

Hmmm, I was there and didnt even see sreet stocks, lol. I did see Econo Late Models, which usually put on a good show. Didnt mind them at all.

Been to eldora and loved it. Some dust last year. Sat in stands coming out of 4 and at times could not see cars into turn 1 and we were covered in dirt.Friday and Saturday. Did not go to infield.

My thoughts from last night:
Hell of an atmosphere. Never seen close to that many people at Port Royal. Not even the Outlaw shows.
No need for 2-lap time trials with 66 cars. You could easily do Nascar style qualifying format at a track that size with multiple cara on the track at one time.
66 sprint cars. No need for a support division.
A lot of wasted time with driver intros before the feature, 90% of the grandstands can't see the podium anyway.
The track surface and racing overall was great. Dewease dominated but the best racing was behind him. Anyone watch Lucas Wolfe? SHEESH.
For people complaining about dust, BRING CLEAR SAFETY GLASSES!
Sammy Swindell is still a dickhead and a crybaby.
Port Royal is the best dirt track in PA.
That's all.
