I've heard rumor/reports both ways. Some comments from Larson on twitter suggest he won't run Saturday, but someone else heard rumor that Chip has said he can have the plane Saturday if he is qualified. I haven't been able to find anything about that. Is there any word out there one way or the other?

I've seen what you have on Twitter which to me points to it being "No."  I haven't heard the Chip stuff, but Kyle said a number of times this week that he wasn't/can't racing Saturday.  Said before Osky that he had 2 sprint races left this year (meaning Osky + Tonight Qualifying) and then had a convo with Christopher Bell about Bell being able to run Saturday and Kyle not.  With all the commitments with the Nascar race I'm not sure I see Chip allowing him to head to Kville Saturday...

The tweet about 2 nights left and the exchange with Christopher Bell were what I saw also. Unfortunate if he wouldn't be allowed to run Saturday if he qualifies tonight. I've watched a lot of races at Knoxville and have seen Larson there several times. While he may not have won, I don't think I've ever watched someone as exciting as Larson at Knoxville. He makes more moves around the track than nearly anyone I've seen. Drives the car hard and makes up HUGE amounts of ground in a short time, but occasionally may give up ground from overdriving or something. Definitely fun to watch. One reason I heard given that Chip may possibly be open to letting him run is when he sold $14k worth of shirts a month or couple back at a dirt race. Not sure many Nascar guys are selling that much in shirts at a race and think that may have opened some eyes. But Chip isn't involved with the sprint car at all as far as I know, so what does he really care...

Chip used to be heavily involved in sprint car racing. In fact, it's one of his favorite forms of racing. I'm sure a decision to race on Saturday could be a possibility,  but, will it happen. I highly doubt it. There is just to much to lose. Mostly on the driver/sponsor relationship.

+1 Too much at stake with his "day job." I've heard Chip mention how much he likes sprint car racing...but far too much at stake here.

Would there be a possibility of a deal something like this:  "Chip, can I talk to you for a second?  I qualified 4th for Saturday night at Knoxville.  If you let me run Saturday night, I will only run 10 races next year.  Please!!!!  Christopher's mom is letting him run!!!  Pretty Pretty Please!!!!!!  I promise I won't ask for anything else the rest of the year!!!  You don't have to give me anything for Christmas!  I will stay late every night at the track getting ready for Sunday!   PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!"

That is how much I believe Kyle wants to run Saturday night.  I cannot come tonight but will be there Friday.  Praying Chip lets him run Saturday night because as someone said, he is the most exciting driver to watch at Knoxville and he is a threat to win!

Pretty Please Chip!!!!!

i would be shocked if larson has a top 4 starting spot and doesnt race saturday night... one of those deals where it might be better to ask forgiveness than ask permission

If memory serves me right he was in pretty good with Ed Lynch Jr. when he was still racing.

Good for both venues of racing and I would bet He will be in Knoxville.Nascar seems to have a lot of empty seats in their televised broadcasts.Kyle Larsons fan base is growing due to his great attitude about racing in general and has helped  Nascar be a little less boring Chip is one of the true owners in racing that are fans of all forms of racing.

Nascrap  should be taking over sponsorship of the Larson sprint car i say. After hearing what DS said in victory lane makes you wonder. Ricky telling him were he needed to make changes. Talk all you want about DS, but without Warner i don't believe he would be were he is today.

Kyle will obviously have the conversation with Chip, but I don't see it happening (though I'm really hoping it does).  There's too much at stake with his NASCAR career and the logistics of such a move as well as Chip's team and sponsor obligations.  I'm sure they'll have the conversation and I really hope he's there (and as bad as we all want him to be there imagine how bad he does - you could tell by his post race interviews) but I don't see it happening.  Hope I'm wrong...

Simple solution- just have the NASCAR race get rained out. Problem solved. Anybody have any clout with the weatherman?

As much as I like Larson and respect his capabilities, I'm tired of seeing stuff like this play out.

Either commit to the whole weekend or don't race at all

If it plays out like it did with Rico a few years ago, and you're sitting in your hauler watching someone else make a lap in the car, in my opinion you'd have every right to be upset
