$3000 to Win Hutch Nationals Awaits NCRA Modified Drivers!
Park City, Kansas – July 10, 2017 - Former-two-time series champion Dan Powers of Wichita, Kansas will lead the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division to the big half-mile fairgrounds oval, which is the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas for the 61st running of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Hutchinson Grand Nationals presented by Midwest Super Store of Hutchinson.
The weekend will kick off this Thursday night with an open practice session from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM with the series modified division competing in two qualifying heat races with the total finishing and passing points accumulated from both setting up the line-ups for Saturday night’s “C, B” and championship features.
Saturday night’s championship feature winner will earn $3000 while just making the night’s finale will earn drivers $350 just to start the twenty-four-car finale.
On the strength of two feature victories, Powers will come into the weekend with a 50-point lead over former champion Tyler Davis. Ryan McAninch, defending tour champion Scott Green, Josh Lanterman, Jason McGehee, Beau Davis, Cecil Dymond, Corey Lagroon and Kyler Kemp are the top ten in the standings while Lagroon has a slim 12-point lead over Woodward, Oklahoma driver Jon Herring, Jr. in the tours rookie of the year standings.
Former five-time tour champion Brian Franz of Halstad leads the current drivers in Hutch Nationals victories with three in the past five years, including last year’s victory. Powers and Davis are the only two drivers, currently in the top ten of the point standings, with Nationals victories.
The modified division has competed during the Hutchinson Grand Nationals since 1986 but wasn’t sanctioned by NCRA until 1998.
Official payout for the NCRA modified portion of the weekend is as follows:
Championship Feature: 1) $3000, 2) $2000, 3) $1500, 4) $1000, 5) $900, 6) $800, 7) $700, 8) $600 9-13) $500, 14-19) $400, 20-24) $350
“D” Feature non-transfer cars $100
“C” Feature non-transfer cars $150
Drivers MUST compete both Friday and Saturday night to be eligible for the above payout.
Grandstand general admission for ages 12 and up $20, free for ages 11 and under. $2 off coupons can be obtained at any O’Reilly Auto Parts stores in the Hutchinson area. All pit passes are $30.
