Karl Kinser,   After Mark decided to go truck racing, Karl just sort of faded off into the sunset. The knowledge that man had and nobody went searching for him. Or, did he just lose the desire ?

Mark Kinser, A lot of people thought after Steve left Karl that would be the end of the run for him. Mark stepped in and they never lost a beat. Went truck racing and after that deal went sour he also just faded of into the sunset.

I'm sure others can throw a few names in there, I mention those 2 because both were on the top of there game.

Tommie Sanders was on here a few years ago. He had been working for Wirtgen in sales for quite some time-maybe since Gambler.

Wirtgen sure was a friend to sprint car racing for a long time.

Karl is going to be the guest on OPEN RED Monday night which is in the News section of the World of Outlaws website. It's an awesome program and all the previous ones are available for listening to. I'm sure Karl will address a lot of very interesting things from his career, and what he's doing these days, which is building and restoring cars, I believe.

Thats a good program to listen to. I usually listen to it while I'm mowing the lawn. I wish it was just a bit longer though, as the podcast usually ends before I'm done mowing. The two dudes who host it do a good job.

I guess I thought Mark Won a WoO title after his attempt at Truck racing, maybe I'm mistaken.

Mark has concussion issues, and that is why he retired.  i think the desire is still there from when he spoke when inducted into the Hall of Fame.  He says he "has to stay away" from the races or he'll want to do it again even though he shouldn't (ie:  medically he shouldn't be doing it, but in his heart he still wants to).  Seems that Sammy and Steve are similar, you don't see either of them at many races either (and Steve's son is racing full-time on the Outlaw tour).  The desire to compete is still there, but age has caught up with Steve (and to a lesser degree Sammy).    All of these guys deserve to do what they want, they've defintely earned it.

Karl could have kept going as a crew chief fi he wanted to work for someone else, but without Corporate sponsorship it made zero sense for him to be a car owner.  I saw a calendar with some of the restored cars Karl has done.  He's just as meticulous doing that as he was with prepping a sprint car.  Obviously still has the desire to be the best at what he does.

Good to hear Karl's interview on WoO. I didn't no it was his design idea on downtube's. Also interesting was his comments about Bobby Allen.

Classic Cars, no race cars that he talked about.
