Why are all the speedweek races in central pa? Also, there is even one in another state (Md) . What about western pa tracks like Lernerville and Mercer? Shouldn't they try in include all tracks that run weekly sprint car shows? At the very least they should include an iconic track like Lernerville and stick to pennsy tracks. I am not dissin Hagerstown, but its not a sprint car track and its not In Pa. It is the Pa sprint speedweek, lets keep the money in Pa.

Hagerstown is a heck of lot closer for most of the teams than Lernerville. The beauty of Pa Speedweek is the ability for the teams and fans to travel fairly short distances between races. Hagerstown is just over the Pa line. Most of the invaders can set up shop for the week in the Mechanicsburg area.

Ok bgtexpress, with all due respect then it should be The Central Pa Sprint Speedweek. I just checked map quest - from Port Royal ( my favorite track btw) to Grandview is 125mi and from The Port to Lernerville is 200mi. I think if they are running for 5 grand to win most teams will be ok with an extra 75mi trip. Again I just ffeel Lernerville is too important of a track to exlude, the history there is huge. The Outlaws have been going there since the early days and guys like Lou Blaney, Ted Wise and Ed Lynch Sr. helped pave ithe way to what sprint car racing is today. Heck Ted Wise and Lou Blaney finished 3rd and 4th behind Opperman and Dick Gaines at the Knoxville Nationals in 1974 and these guys were weekly regulars at Lernerville and Mercer.

I agree with the ski, why no Speed Week races west of the Tuscarora Tunnel. I'll give you Hagerstown, but why have a race at a podunk place like Path Valley. The western Pa racer come east all the time. Places like Lernerville, Mercer and Bedford are easy to get to. They have good roads, good food and nice places to stay. I think it has something to do with Rahmer Promotions, just saying.

Think about the drive back.... race gets over at 10:30 or 11, who wants to drive 4 hours?

Path Valley's "podunkitude" is one of its big appeals for me, very pretty drive....

Don't a lot of the Western Pa. guys race Ohio Speedweek? big state, East to West

Rev very few Western PA guys run much of speedweek. A lot come to Sharon Speedway but that's just about in PA as it is. They just don't come here. It'd be cool if they set up a western PA speedweek again. I've heard they used to have one back in the day. Lernerville, Mercer, PPMS, Tri-State and Sharon or another local track would make for a good little speedweek I'd think.

I agree. Western Pa. should be included as part of speed week. I think then you would also see some of Ohio's top drivers venture over to mix it up. No reason, Lernerville and Mercer are not part of that schedule. Right now you have them returning to tracks for 2 stops. After Port Royal teams could go straight across 80 into Mercer then Lernerville. It would then set them up to hit Path Valley on the way back to central pa. A couple extra $$$ in the purse, and the point fund money would bring most teams west i think. Hagerstown is not a good sprint car track. Rahmer never did that well in western pa maybe driving thru tunnels is not his thing. wink

This has been tried before and not many teams made the trip either way. That was before it travel cost as much as it does today. Making that trip in truck is tougher than in a car. What a lot of people don't connsider is Central Pa. teams run for $5,000 or more to win enough that $5,000 isn't a big enough deal for them travel six or seven hours round trip for it. There are not many full time teams around anymore.

Another thing last night is a good reason for the three regular 410 tracks to have two dates. They don't always get them both in and if they have one and it rains out then the tracks that keep 410 racing going don't cash in at all. Without the Grove, Port and Lincoln the would be no Speedweek and maybe not much 410 racing. Say what you want but those three have been the only tracks up to the task for many years.

Aren't you the guy who said Attica was your home track?

Did you see my post about fishing? Do you fish? A guy pulled a 6 lb. largemouth out of my friend's pond, a hour east of Attica. I always catch some, no big ones yet, get bites right away, it has potential

I'm sure I could invite you

Agree, probably have Dietrich, Hodnett, and maybe Wolfe travel west. Most likely the Wagners but then they only run a limited speedweek schedule now. Most Posse teams have full time jobs and limited budgets so heading west, especially on a week night would be doubtful. Heck as it stands now  the majority of the Lincoln and Port teams run only their home track during the week. Can't see them  making an 8 hour round trip out west. Also don't see the western Pa teams trucking east for the same reasons. Having said that, it would be nice, from a fan perspective, to see other tracks included on the speed week schedule.

If I can ever find you at a racetrack one of these days, I got quite a few tried and true methods for you to try that could very well land you one of those big ones. Many people don't realize this but farm ponds often produce gigantic bass. I used to have a couple that I fished here around home that are unfortunately posted & under new ownership. I used to love fishing them. I still miss it.

Fishing ?  0k. What fun guys. Let's all talk fishin. Well back to racing. If you structure a point fund for the speedweek series  and run western pa on Friday and Saturday I think you would see more cars come west. Problem with that is the grove and the Saturday  night tracks are not going to be a part of it. So, Fred, next year call it what it is. Central Pa. Speedweek.

I personally think its lame to have three tracks with two dates.  The whole intrigue of speedweek is to visit different tracks.  Personally think they need a speedweek race at trailways. 410s are awesome on that track
