I just saw that as well!  I remember one year they ran at Michigan and Kasey flew out to run championship night.  Kyle also flew from Watkins Glen to run Friday night non-qualifier, back to the Glen and then back Saturday night.  So, Michigan is very easily done!

Really want to see him there again.  He was faster than anyone on the track last year by the end of the A.  Just didnt have the track position early enough to get up there.  If he can get a top 10-15 start, he will be a very serious threat to win.

Larson said on Twitter a week or 2 ago that he'd probably just run a prelim night.

So, if he qualifies for the A and doesn't run it, are people gonna lose their minds again?

Gonna take a stab at this-----if he fails to qualify for the A, he won't come back Friday and/or Saturday night.  If he qualifies for the A, I dont believe for a second he won't come back.  By announcing he will only run prelim, he has an out.

As limowreck says above Kyle said on Twitter it would be prelim only. When I saw that I thought same thing Johnny - will people lose a gasket if he qualifies and doesn't run.

IMO it's more likely Paul puts someone else in the car if he locks in the A.

I highly doubt if Larson is locked in the A after the first two prelim nights he's just gonna sit it out. He has already said the Knoxville Nationals is the race he wants to win more than any other and he could easily do it from starting anywhere in the top 16 on Saturday night.

If you quaify for the Knoxville Nationals Championship final and skip it due to another commitment involving any other racing series you should be banned from racing at Knoxville Raceway or any WoO event for not less than 10 years.

By your logic, RICO would have another 8 years left on his WoO and Knoxville ban.  That doesnt sound like much fun.

If he qualifies for the race and then pulls out of the event, his presence won't add to the event, it'll cheapen it.

Well "we're" in trouble now! Not so sure about 10 years, but I agree with you on banning them from future Nationals if they indeed have a prior commitment and don't plan on running Saturday night. Why not look out for the drivers this race is intended for! Of course the Larson/Rico fanatics are the ones that would blow the gasket! I give them credit for their talent, but let's face it.......would they be able to enter for just a prelim night, knowing in advance that they won't run the final night, if it wasn't for the wallets thay have? We have sprint car drivers that run sprints all year long, and yet some fans think it cool for these guys to potentially take a spot away from one or two of them? That's bull shit! Knoxville needs to act on that right now. There should be a ruling in place to add driver(s) from the B Main to fill those spots in the A Main that occur in situations like this. And if they were qualified for the B.....add another qualifier from the C....and the hell with putting another driver in the seat of the car for an intentionally absent driver, and the car remaining in a qualified race, even if it is moved to the back. It needs to be put on the trailer.   And finally, Larson has talent, but naming him as a lock to win from the top 15--16 drivers in the field as some are, is a laugh. Can he?.... sure, but he's far from a lock!

I never said he was a "lock" to win it but he ran from 21st to 5th last year so he's shown he can come from the back. My opinion on guys qualifying for the A then putting a different driver in the car is cut thier pay to a 1/4 of what they would of gotten and split the rest evenly through the field.

Are you using cool as a synonym for "acceptable" or are you using it as a substitute for "awesome" or "great"?

If it's the latter of the two, I would say calm down, Hoss. No one thinks it's awesome that someone can qualify for the A main and take a spot away from someone else in the field and then not run.

If it's the former, I would say, yes, it is acceptable. I don't 100% agree with it, but if you qualify for the A, as the rules are currently stated, then yes, you can do what you want with your spot. If racers don't like it, they should do their damndest to make sure the offending party doesn't beat them. However if Knoxville changes the rules and starts somebody else from the B as you suggested, I think I'd be in favor of that.

Currently though, the way the rules are written, your gripe should lie with the track and not the driver.

There are plenty of All Star, USAC and e-mod races he can run.

That it's "awesome" or "great' for those fans that simply want to see Larson compete, even though he says he won't be back for Saturday night, and that means it's "acceptable" to them that another driver might lose a spot in the A Main. And yes, my primary gripe is with Knoxville for allowing it to take place. What would they do if there were say.....4 or 5 drivers with that plan?  Just because right now there is only Larson in the picture doesn't make it "acceptable"......for fans and teams in general.
