BRODY ROA 2ND AT PERRIS – ON TO NEBRASKA AND IOWA THIS WEEK!

(Buena Park, CA, June 1, 2017) Brody Roa warmed up for this weekend’s racing sojourn to Nebraska and Iowa by finishing second in the USAC/CRA annual “Salute to Indy” last Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway.

Performing before another large crowd last week at the track known as “The Southern California Home of Major League Sprint Car Racing,” the Garden Grove, California driver was impressive from the time the car rolled out of the trailer until the final checkered flag at the holiday weekend show.  He qualified fifth in the 21-car field.  It was the third time in three races at The PAS this year that he has been fifth fast qualifier.  In addition to being fifth fast at each race, his qualifying efforts have been remarkably consistent with laps of 16.765, 16.773 and 16.878.

A third-place finish in his 10-lap heat on Saturday combined with his qualifying effort saw the 26-year-old start on the outside of the front row for the 30-lap main event.  When the Kevin Winter’s green flag started the race, Roa took immediate advantage of his starting position and jumped into the lead.  He set a sizzling pace in the eye-catching green #91R and led the first 10-laps.

After relinquishing the lead, Roa stayed in second for the duration.  He managed to hold off his closest challengers three times after late race yellow flags to claim a second place finish for the second time in the last three races and maintained his second place spot in the championship standings.  Overall, it was his fifth top five in the first five USAC/CRA races of 2017.

“You cannot get any closer to winning one than to be second,” Roa told the fans over the track PA after the race.  “One of these night we will have the stars all in line and we will get one.  We are going to get it.  We are heading out to I-80 Speedway in Nebraska on Friday and Knoxville Raceway in Iowa on Saturday.  It will be a little bit of a tune up.  We are going to go back to Indiana Sprint Week this year so it is going to be good to see how we stack up against those guys (USAC National Series drivers) before we go back there in July.  See how much work we need to do.”

With special help from HD Industries and Burris Racing, Roa’s father Brett and longtime team member Zac Bozanich left for Nebraska in the team hauler on Wednesday and Brody is flying to the Midwest to meet them after work on Thursday.

Friday’s race will be the “Malvern Bank I-80 Dirt Classic” on the 4/10 of a mile I-80 Speedway in Greenfield, Nebraska.  The following evening it will be on to the “Sprint Car Capital of the World,” the ½ mile Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, for the Iowa Corn District 5 & Iowa Corn District 9 Night.”  Fans can click on the following links to visit the website of each track: http://www.i-80speedway.com/i80/ and http://www.knoxvilleraceway.com/

The recently announced team t-shirt package is still available for order.  Fans can purchase a pre-sale package that includes a t-shirt, signed hero card, #91R window sticker and while supplies last, a koozie.  The price of the package is $30.00.  Items can be ordered and picked up at the track or if the buyer wishes, orders can be shipped via USPS Priority Mail for $13.00.  Fans can also purchase Brody Roa hoodies.  Hoodies are only offered as a pre-sale item and orders for them must be received by June 11th.  Cost for the hoodies is $35.00 + $13.00 USPS Priority Mail shipping.
