Heading there from Kokomo. First time to I80, or Nebraska for that matter. HOF and USAC at Knoxville on Saturday.

BrentTFunk,  Hope you have a great, fun trip.  If you can possibly find the time don't miss the opportunity to visit the Smith Collection/Museum of American Speed located at 599 Oak Creek Drive in Lincoln--located next door to Speedway Motors.  Believe me--if you are a racing fan (especially open wheel racing)--THIS PLACE WILL BLOW YOUR MIND--well worth the time to visit for 2-3 hours.

Looks like we're on the same schedule that weekend! Haven't decided if i'll try to stay around Jacksonville, head to Knoxville, or head back home to St. Louis after the race Friday night.

I don't get to see a whole lot of wingless racing in PA so I'm heading west to get my fill.  After Knoxville I plan on slowly making my way back east, Sunday night will be POWRi at Lincoln IL, then on to Indiana Midget Week. Weather permitting I may be able to see 10 races in 11 days. It sure is going to be cool seeing the midgets and wingless sprints at all of these tracks during this vacation. I'll get back to PA in time for USAC Eastern Storm.

Dang that's a solid trip. Too bad midgets aren't at Bellville, IL while you're going to be out this way. The best midget racing iv'e seen in my life has been at Belle-Clair for sure. I wish I had the time to take to see that many races! Maybe someday when i'm retired haha. All that racing and then you've got a full plate when you get back home. I'd like to head out for the Eastern Storm at some point. Cheers to hopefully an eventful and safe trip.

Thanks for the well wishes!  Yes, this is going to be an epic road trip for me, somewhere around 3,000 miles I hope my  old rust bucket of a truck will make it, heck for that matter I hope I can handle it.lol. I also plan on visiting some of the historic pavement tracks in Indiana, they won't be racing but I just want to see some of those tracks while I'm in the area. USAC's Eastern Storm Tour in PA is ok, its probably not near as cool as the wingless racing in the midwest but it does give us east coast non wing fans a fix. Our tracks out here are a bit larger than most of the tracks in Indiana and I don't think they are prepped that well for non wing racing, although Port Royal speedway offers wonderful track prep on the big half mile for the USAC visitors. I do have a midget week first timer thread on IOW also. if you have any tips or good advice I can use please pass them along. I hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Two quick bits of unsolicited advice....

First,  make time for Speedy Bill Smith's Museum of American Speed in Lincoln NE if you can.....you will not regret it.  It might have to be Friday afternoon before the I80 race, but they might have a special Saturday opening since USAC is in town...give them a call.

Casey's General Store is a very good friend to open wheel racing.   They have damn good breakfast pizza too.     You will drive past dozens of them in IL/IA/NE.
