$26,000 THUNDER on the HIGH BANKS Returns to LoneStar Speedway - SUNDAY MAY 28th!

Kilgore TX (5/11/17) by DarinShort.com. The $3,000 to win 'Thunder on the High-Banks' returns to LoneStar Speedway (LSS) on Sunday, May 28th (Memorial Day weekend, 7pm), featuring the high powered ASCS Gulf South Sprint Car teams. Last year's event was a great battle between Channin Tankersley, Johnny Herrera and eventual winner Sam Hafertepe, Jr.

The ASCS Sprint Cars will be racing for $3,000 to win, $1,500 for 2nd, $1,000 for 3rd, then paying generously down to $310/start the A-feature. Any sprint non-qualifier or non-starter will receive $100.

Joining them will be a complete LSS points program - with bumped-up purse structures: Modifieds will pay $1,200/win and $100/start, while the Limited Modified winner will take home $700 and it pays down to $80/start, the first Factory Stock driver to cross the checkers will receive $500 in their feature that pays down to $60/start. Complete purse structure in all divisions is posted below. The Front Wheel Drive 4-Cylinders will round out the 5-division racing card that fires off at 7pm.

A fantastic field of ASCS Sprint Cars is expected, including drivers such as Ray Allen Kulhanek (current points leader), Zane Lawrence, Dustin Gates, Jacob Lucas, Tommy Bryant, Travis Rilat, Channin Tankersley, Scottie McDonald, Caleb Martin, Scott Smith, Chad Wilson, Scott Bogucki, Casey Burkham, Cody Stacy, Michael Lang, Randy Allen, Austin Mundie, Cody Barksdale, Tony Russell, John Pate, Bobby Breen, Chris Sweeney, Tommy Hall, Larry Howery, Brandie Jass & many more from throughout the region. This is the only ASCS event within several hundred miles on this date, so several 'invaders' can be expected.

Keeping up with LoneStar's goal to offer quality racing, great competitor purses - while still at family-affordable pricing - Adult (ages 12-64) tickets to Thunder on the High Banks are $20, while ages 6-11 are $5, and ages 65+/Active Military can take in the full night of racing for just $15. All pit passes for all ages are $35.

Hot laps Sunday May 28th fire off at 7pm, with the Pits opening by 3pm and the Grandstands by 5:30pm. LSS Draw Cut-Off at 6:15pm with the LSS drivers Pit Meeting at 6:45pm. Drivers, please make sure to arrive on time so we can keep the show moving on schedule.

Annual driver registration for the LSS points divisions is required (if you've yet to race at LSS in 2017), and the $30 registration fee goes right back into the LSS Drivers Point Fund - which has averaged over $10,000/year the past four years.  Sprint Cars do not register.

Here is the complete minimum event payback by division for Sunday May 28th:

And now, ages 12-64 can get general admission tickets to this event for $3 less...without having to do lift a finger!

Track promoter Sam Hafertepe comments: "Although $20 is a pretty standard ticket price for ASCS events at most tracks, and it is a substantial purse increase, we feel that by dropping the ticket prices to $17, it will allow more families to take in this great night of racing - and that's what it's all about."
