MEEKER, Okla, (April 3, 2017) - Following a successful season opener Red Dirt Raceway will host the Sooner Late Model Series on Friday.
It will be the first of three visits this season for the Sooner Series.
The traveling series opened their 2017 campaign last Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa and Jay Sale of Edmond raced to his third SLMS career victory over veteran David Hennan. Logan Ellis, Dillon Rupe and Steven Hawkins staged a battle for third through fifth in the 25-lap event.
With the early points lead Sale will face a stiff challenge as a good field of late models is expected to be on hand.
Sport Mods, Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks will also be racing this Friday. Sprint Cars will have the night off.
Jared Baird won the Sport Mod feature last week over Jeff Roselle. Ben Lewis topped the first Pure Stock feature of the season and Dillan Randall led the way in mini stock action.
All three drivers will have the opportunity to pick up a repeat victory.
Gates open at 5 p.m. with grandstands opening at 6. Drivers meeting is 6:45 followed by wheel pack at and races at 7:30.
Red Dirt Raceway, located on Oklahoma state highway 18 between Shawnee and Chandler, is just a short drive from Oklahoma City.
